The highlight of any Czech Republic vacation is spending plenty of time in its capital, Prague. This elegant cultural capital of Central Europe is known as the "Paris of the East." It is filled with lovely architecture from the Gothic, Baroque, Romanesque and even Cubist time periods. The historic center, which escaped destruction in World War II, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Important sites here include the Hradcany complex of Prague Castle, St. Vitus Cathedral, St. George Basilica and Vladislav Hall.

Enjoy beautiful views while you stroll through Prague, across bridges that span the Vltava River. The most famous might be the Charles Bridge, which dates to medieval times. Don't miss a visit to Old Town Hall with its awesome astronomical clock. With the influx of tourists, gourmet restaurants have found a place in Prague. But you can still find plenty of roast pork with dumplings and cabbage on local menus, a mainstay of the diets of most Czechs.

On Czech Republic tours, it's likely you'll motor past scenic farmland as you make your way across the country. One popular stop is Brno, the second-largest city in the Czech Republic and home to the fine Moravian Museum, the Augustinian Monastery and the Capuchin Church with its mummies.
