Arrive in Lima and enjoy guided city sightseeing. Next, fly to Cuzco for guided city sightseeing with visits to the MONASTERY, CATHEDRAL, and TEMPLE OF SACSAYHUAMAN. Enjoy an excursion to PISAC to visit with locals and buy local wares before visiting the Incan fortress of OLLANTAYTAMBO. The highlight of your trip begins with a train ride through the Sacred Valley to MACHU PICCHU. You may want to walk up to the Sun Gate, the ancient entrance used by the Incas. After a morning at leisure in Machu Picchu, return to Cuzco for some free time followed by a free day in Lima for the flexibility to discover Peru on your own. Add the Amazon to your vacation and fly from Cuzco to Puerto Maldonado on day 7, enter to the Amazon Jungle. Embark on a MOTORBOAT JOURNEY up the Tambopata River to view turtles, caimans, monkeys, and river birdlife. Your unique AMAZON JUNGLE lodge is located within the Ese’ Eja Native Indian Community. Time here includes boat trips in search of wildlife, a CANOE RIDE along the lake’s edge to witness giant river otters, a walk to TRES CHIMBADAS OXBOW LAKE, visits to a PARROT CLAY LICK, and a NATIVE SLASH AND BURN FARM.
