DAY 1 - Wednesday - Depart Los Angeles for Bangkok, Thailand Fly transpacific aboard Northwest Airlines.
DAY 2 - Thursday - Arrive Bangkok Upon arrival, you are met and escorted to the hotel.
DAY 3 - Friday - Bangkok After breakfast, sightseeing begins at the Royal Palace complex, a fairyland of gilded pavilions and elegant temples guarded by golden statues. In Wat Phra Keo, you see the Emerald Buddha, Thailand's most sacred icon. Thailand is known for its precious and semi-precious stones. Visit a jewelry factory before returning to the hotel. The afternoon is free at leisure. This evening enjoy a welcome dinner with traditional Thai dance performance. MEALS: American Breakfast, Dinner Show
DAY 4 - Saturday - Bangkok Free day – you might consider taking one of our optional tours. Perhaps visit the floating market at Damnoen Saduak where you see the colorful sampans piled high with fruits and flowers. For information on optional tours in Bangkok, click here. Then continue to Kanchanaburi with lunch at a local restaurant. After lunch visit the world-famous bridge on the River Kwai and the memorial dedicated to the 9,000 Allied soldiers who died building the bridge and railway. MEALS: American Breakfast
DAY 5 - Sunday - Bangkok/Chiang Rai Transfer to the airport for your domestic flight to Chiang Rai. You are met on arrival and escorted to the Dusit Island Resort with its lovely pool and riverside location. The balance of the day is free. MEALS: American Breakfast
DAY 6 - Monday - Chiang Rai/Golden Triangle Chiang Rai province is known as the gateway to the Golden Triangle. Visit the small village of Chiang Saen near the Burma/Laos border. Travel through lush fields of strawberries, pineapples and tobacco. Then visit the famed Golden Triangle, a lush mountainous region where the borders of Thailand, Laos and Myanmar (Burma) all meet. Enjoy a boat trip with picnic lunch on the Mekong River. MEALS: American Breakfast, Lunch
DAY 7 - Tuesday - Chiang Rai/Chiang Mai Depart by motorcoach this morning, with a stop at a hill tribe village on the way to Chiang Mai. Your hotel is within walking distance of the famed night market, the largest in Thailand. Dinner is at the Gallery Café tonight, with a lovely outdoor setting on the Ping River. MEALS: American Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
DAY 8 - Wednesday - Chiang Mai This morning, visit the National Elephant Institute. This peaceful sanctuary, devoted to elephant conservation, is unique in that these noble animals are treated with love and respect. It houses the only baby elephant school in the world, and is home to the only Elephant Hospital in the country. See the elephants bathe and then take an optional hour-long jungle trek atop these gentle giants. Then on to tour Doi Suthep Temple before returning to your hotel. This evening enjoy a typical Northern Thailand Kantoke feast with a traditional Thai dance performance. MEALS: American Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner Show
DAY 9 - Thursday - Chiang Mai On today's Home Industries tour, take a short ride to the outskirts of Chiang Mai, where most of the local industries are still located in individual houses. The villages of Bor Sang and Sankam Pang are large centers of Thai cotton and silk weaving, silverware, lacquerware, woodcarving, leather work and Thai doll making. Also stop at the Umbrella Village and Celadon Kilns. The rest of afternoon is at leisure. MEALS: American Breakfast
DAY 10 - Friday - Chiang Mai/Bangkok Transfer to the airport for a morning flight to Bangkok. Check in to your hotel. The rest of the day is free for last minute shopping. MEALS: American Breakfast
