Tour Itinerary

Visit Italy and its most famous shrines. Start in Rome with a welcome dinner at a local restaurant and visit Rome's most important sights with a Local Guide: St. Paul Outside the Walls, the Catacombs, St. John Lateran Basilica, the Holy Stairs, St. Mary Major Basilica, the Vatican Museums and Sistine Chapel, St. Peter's Square and Basilica, the Colosseum and the Roman Forum. Travel to Assisi and visit the Basilicas of St. Francis and St. Clare. Also visit St. Mary of the Angels Basilica and the Portiuncula. Next up: Pompeii, the Roman city both destroyed and preserved by an eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79 AD. Enjoy a walk through the excavations with a Local Guide. Then, two nights in the bayside resort of Sorrento feature an excursion to the Isle of Capri and time to relax. Return to Rome and enjoy a farewell dinner at a local restaurant. Extend your vacation via Split to Medjugorje. Host service and guided sightseeing are included. Your hotel will be in Mostar, as hotels in Medjugorje are not up to Globus' standards.
Day 1: (Mon.) Board your overnight transatlantic flight.

Day 2: Arrive in Rome, Italy.
(Tue.) Transfer to your hotel. Balance of the day is at leisure. At 6 pm, meet your Tour Director, then enjoy this evening’s welcome dinner with your traveling companions in a local restaurant. (D)

Day 3: Rome.
(Wed.) Attend the weekly general audience of the Pope (subject to availability). This afternoon, visit ST. PAUL OUTSIDE THE WALLS and the CATACOMBS with a Local Guide. During the persecutions, the catacombs were used as places of refuge for the celebration of the Eucharist. Then, visit ST. JOHN LATERAN BASILICA and the HOLY STAIRS, which were brought from Jerusalem to Rome around 326 AD by St. Helena, mother of Constantine the Great, and consist of 28 white marble steps. As a favorite of pilgrims everywhere, these steps may only be ascended on the knees. Lastly, visit the impressive ST. MARY MAJOR BASILICA. (B)

Day 4: Rome.
(Thu.) Morning sightseeing with your Local Guide starts with a visit to the VATICAN MUSEUMS and SISTINE CHAPEL, world famous for Michelangelo’s ceiling paintings and The Last Judgment. Continue to monumental ST. PETER’S SQUARE and BASILICA. Cross the River Tiber, and visit the COLOSSEUM, one of the New 7 Wonders of the World®, and the ROMAN FORUM, where Roman legions marched in triumph. Afternoon and evening at leisure to further explore this fascinating city. (B)

Day 5: Rome–Assisi.
(Fri.) Enjoy a pleasant drive through the Apennine Mountains to the hilltop village of Assisi, home of St. Francis and St. Clare. Before arriving at your hotel, visit ST. MARY OF THE ANGELS BASILICA and the PORTIUNCULA. (B,D)

Day 6: Assisi.
(Sat.) Celebrate Mass this morning followed by a guided walking tour of Assisi. Visit the BASILICAS OF ST. FRANCIS and ST. CLARE. See the crucifix that spoke to St. Francis, “Go, Francis, and repair my house, which as you see is falling into ruin.” Balance of the day at leisure. (B)

Day 7: Assisi–Rome.
(Sun.) Return to Rome and enjoy a farewell dinner at a local restaurant. (B,D)

Day 8: Rome–Split, Croatia–Medjugorje (Mostar), Bosnia-Herzegovina.
(Mon.) Transfer to the airport for your included flight to Split, Croatia, and arrive at your hotel in Mostar. (B,D)

Day 9: Medjugorje (Mostar).
(Tue.) Enjoy morning guided sightseeing of Mostar. This afternoon an excursion to Medjugorje is included. (B,D)

Day 10: At Leisure in Medjugorje.
(Wed.) A short drive to Medjugorje for a full day at leisure to soak in the atmosphere of this famous pilgrimage town. (B,D)

Day 11: (Thu.) Transfer to Split Airport. Homebound flight. (B)
