Discover a natural wonderland on this Costa Rica vacation. Get a bird's-eye view of one of the world's most active volcanoes from a sky tram and ride a raft along a jungle river. Hop into a volcanic mud pool or go river tubing or horseback riding at a working hacienda. Meet howler monkeys and amazing amphibians at Tortuguero National Park, tour a pineapple farm and a coffee plantation, and look for brilliant butterflies. A world of fun awaits on your family's Costa Rica vacation.

Day 1. Arrive Liberia, Costa Rica

Tour begins: 6:00 PM, Hilton Papagayo Resort.
A transfer is included from Liberia Airport to Hilton Papagayo Resort. Join us for a welcome reception and dinner. Meals D
Day 2. Hacienda Guachipelin Adventure
Dive into a morning of family fun at Hacienda Guachipelin, a working hacienda (ranch) on the slopes of Rincon de la Vieja Volcano. A choice of activities includes a dip in volcanic mud pools, horseback riding or an exciting river tubing adventure. Meals BD
Day 3. Pan American Highway / Sky Tram
Unofficially the world’s longest road, the Pan American Highway stretches all the way from Alaska to Argentina. Drive along part of it today en route to Lake Arenal, where you’ll take a cruise on the lake and go on a sky tram ride for a bird’s-eye view of active, cone-shaped Arenal Volcano – which has been continuously erupting for nearly 40 years! Continue on to Tilajari Resort Hotel for two nights in a private reserve. Meals BLD
Day 4. River Adventures / Tilajari Resort
An exciting day begins with a jungle river-rafting trip on the Penas Blancas River – your expert guide will help you spot amazing wildlife from giant iguanas to parrots. Meet a local family who have lived on the river all their lives, much as their ancestors did. The rest of the day is free to enjoy Tilajari Resort’s optional activities, as you wish, perhaps taking a horseback ride. Meals BLD
Day 5. Pineapple Farm / Tortuguero
Rise early for a journey through Costa Rica’s wildlife-rich rainforests to the Caribbean coast. Along the way, tour the organic Finca Corsicana pineapple farm with a local guide. A rugged drive on unpaved roads leads to a jungle launch and your riverfront lodge, set on a network of scenic canals adjacent to Tortuguero National Park. Keep an eye out for turtles, caimans, monkeys and toucans! Meals BLD
Day 6. Tortuguero National Park
Explore Tortuguero today by land and by boat. Cruise the park’s rivers and canals with an expert naturalist guide, then visit a local village. If you’re on a summer departure, put on some dark clothing for a night or early morning trip to the beach to see nesting sea turtles. Meals BLD
Day 7. Coffee Plantation / San José
Fly out of the jungle this morning on a private charter flight to San José where you’ll visit a coffee farm to learn the secrets of making coffee, from beans to the cup. Join us tonight for a farewell reception and dinner. Meals BLD
Day 8. Journey Home
Tour ends: San José. A transfer to San José Santa Maria Int’l Airport from Costa Rica Marriott Hotel is included. Allow a minimum of 21/2 hours for check-in. Meals B

Recommended age: 8. Children must be 8 or older to experience the zip-line ride.

Children under 18 must be booked in a room with at least one adult. Quadruple accommodations are not available. All gratuities are included.

Note: Costa Rica departure tax is not included. Triples are usually a two-bedded room, plus one rollaway cot, when available. Sea turtles only nest during summer months - the visit to the beach on Day 6 for the possibility of sighting sea turtles is not offered at other times of the year.

Inclusive Prices
Tour prices are per person in U.S. dollars. All hotel and lodge accommodations, entertainment, special dinners, land transportation, sightseeing, luggage handling, the charter flight from Tortuguero to San Jose, and the services of the guides, drivers and the Tauck Director are included. A representative of Tauck will meet you at Daniel Oduber International Airport in Liberia and provide you with transportation to the Hilton Papagayo Resort in Guanacaste, provided we have your updated flight information at least two weeks prior to the tour departure date. On the last day of the tour, you will be provided with transportation from the Marriott back to the airport. We suggest you allow at least 2½ hours for flight check-in. The Marriott provides complimentary shuttle service to the airport every thirty minutes beginning at 5 a.m. In the event you require an earlier transfer, the Tauck Director will coordinate a complimentary taxi transfer for you.

Child Discount - Children 11 years of age and younger may receive a discount on the tour price. To qualify for a child discount, the child\'s birth date must be provided at time of booking. No child discount is offered on the Tauck Travel Protection plans.

Hotel and Lodge Accommodations - Tauck\'s price includes all hotel and lodge accommodations with private baths. The Tauck standard is to provide the best available accommodations without sacrificing value. Although the quality may differ slightly from place to place, this standard remains uncompromised. Two-bedded rooms are reserved in most hotels. Triples are two-bedded rooms plus a rollaway cot where available and are not recommended for comfort. Quadruple accommodations are not available.

If you request an adjacent, adjoining or connecting room, Tauck will do all it can to accommodate your request. However, Tauck cannot guarantee such accommodations will be available. Please note that a hotel may consider “adjacent” to be across the hall or down the path. Also, connecting rooms are often not available in many lodges and hotels on this itinerary.

Children under the age of 18 must be booked in a room with at least one adult.

Meals - Most meals are included as specified in the itinerary.

Tauck Director - Each ‘Costa Rica: Jungles and Volcanoes\' is conducted by a Tauck Director who remains with the group throughout the tour. Your Tauck Director is a professional, fully trained employee of Tauck.

Gratuities Included - All appropriate gratuities for restaurant and hotel staffs, local guides and drivers, and the Tauck Director are included.

No Options Sold - Your Tauck Director will assist you with information on free-time activities based on honest opinion and guidance, but will not sell you anything. This means better value and a more relaxed, pleasant experience for you.

Not Included
Airfare to the tour departure point and from the tour ending point is not included. Airfare may be purchased for travel originating in the United States.
