Bangkok Klongs / Royal Barges Cruise up the Chao Phraya River, connected by a network of canals called klongs, for a look at local life along the river. After a stop at Wat Arun (Temple of the Dawn), continue on to the Royal Barge Museum to see spectacular barges used in ancient state processions. Fly to Chiang Mai Fly to Chiang Mai, known as the “Rose of the North”; a visit to 14th-century Wat Umong is a fascinating introduction to the region’s many temples. Meals BLD 9. Da Nang / “China Beach” Visit the tomb of 19th-century emperor Tu Duc in Hué before heading out along the South China Sea coast. Stop for lunch in the seaside village of Lang Co, and continue through mountain scenery to Da Nang.
