Tour Itinerary

Day 1: USA / Rio de Janeiro
Depart the USA aboard your overnight flight to Rio.

Day 2: Rio de Janeiro
Morning arrival in Rio, the pulsating \'sun and fun\' capital of South America; meeting and transfer to your hotel. Balance of the day is at leisure.

Day 3: Rio de Janeiro
Morning tour begins at Copacabana and Ipanema, two of the world\'s most famous beaches. Then, cable car to the top of Sugar Loaf Mountain for a panoramic view of the beaches and Guanabara Bay. Afternoon at leisure for shopping or relaxing. (B)

Day 4: Rio de Janeiro
Drive through the fashionable Barra District en route to the base of Corcovado Mountain; take a short train ride to the summit. Here, at 2,400 feet above the city, stands the 125-foot statue of \'Christ the Redeemer.\' The panorama of the city below is testament to why most visitors consider Rio to be one of the most beautiful cities in the world. Tonight, a \'Rio by Night\' tour, including dinner at a traditional Brazilian Churrasqueria (barbecue) Restaurant, followed by a spectacular Brazilian Samba Show. (B,D)

Day 5: Rio de Janeiro / Iguassu Falls
A morning flight to Iguassu Falls. Upon arrival, transfer to the Brazilian side of the Falls for an afternoon walking tour of one of the world\'s greatest natural wonders. Iguassu Falls consists of over 275 separate cataracts across a span of two and one-half miles, wider than Victoria, higher than Niagara and more beautiful than both. In the late afternoon, drive to Argentina (B)

Day 6: Iguassu Falls / Buenos Aires
Morning tour of the Argentine side of the falls, including a visit to famous Devil\'s Throat, the most magnificent of the cataracts - view and photograph the thundering waters falling below. Stop at the National Park, before transferring to the airport for your flight to Buenos Aires; meeting and transfer to your hotel. (B)

Day 7: Buenos Aires
Built in the 19th century, era of plenty for the wealthy Gaucho (cowboy) land barons of Argentina, this city\'s architecture and sophistication rivals that of Paris. Morning sightseeing begins at the Plaza de Mayo and continues via Casa Rosada, the President\'s residence, the Teatro Colón Opera House and Avenida 9 de Julio, the world\'s widest boulevard. Then, pass the colonial Italian Boca District, the Cathedral and the Tomb of General Jose de San Martin before returning to your hotel. Tonight, enjoy a fabulous dinner, followed by a typical Tango Show. (B,D)

Day 8: Buenos Aires / Colonia, Uruguay / Buenos Aires
Early morning transfer to the pier for the Hydrofoil which takes you from Buenos Aires to Colonia del Sacramento in Uruguay. The historical parts of Colonia del Sacramento are named by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site. Lunch in a local restaurant before returning to Buenos Aires. (B,L)

Day 9: Buenos Aires
Day at leisure. Visit the San Telmo Antique Market (Sunday only), or take a full-day optional tour to an estancia (Argentine ranch) for a Gaucho-style Barbecue Lunch featuring traditional folklore and dance. (B)

Day 10: Buenos Aires / Bariloche
Morning transfer for the flight to Bariloche, the \'Switzerland\' of South America; Upon arrival drive along the shores of Lake Nahuel Huapi past Cerro Cathedral (Cathedral Mountain). Ascend by chairlift to Cerro Campanario; see the spectacular views. Then, visit the charming postcard village of Llao Llao. (B)

Day 11: Bariloche
Day at leisure in Bariloche to enjoy the beautiful scenery, charming shops or to participate in an optional tour. (B)

Day 12: Bariloche/Andes Mountain Crossing/Puyehue, Chile
Depart Bariloche by car towards the mighty Andes; cross the border to Chile. Our full day trip offers spectacular vistas of lakes, snow capped volcanos, rivers and evergreen pine forests. Tonight, unwind in the hot springs at the Termas de Puyehue. (B,L,D)

Day 13: Puyehue / Puerto Varas
Morning departure from Puyehue to Puerto Varas, known as the \'City of Roses.\' Stop in the picturesque town of Frutillar to visit its old village, where townhouses were built similar to those in the German Black Forest region, surrounded by beautiful gardens. Pass by the Lutheran and Catholic churches, en route to the Pioneer\'s Museum, boasting relics brought by early German settlers. (Museum is closed on Mondays.) (B)

Day 14: Lake Todos Los Santos
Today, drive towards Petrohue skirting Lake Llanquihue, Ensenada and the beautiful Petrohue River Rapids. Arrive in Petrohue; board a launch that crosses spectacular Lake Todos Los Santos to Peulla. After lunch, return to Puerto Varas (B,L)

Day 15: Puerto Varas / Santiago
Morning flight from Puerto Varas to Santiago, nestled between the Pacific Ocean to the west and the mighty Andes Mountains to the east. Upon arrival, an orientation tour of the city includes a visit to the Civic Center, O\'Higgins Park and Santa Lucia Hill. Stop at the pre-Columbian Museum (except Mondays) before continuing to San Cristobal Hill for a magnificent view of the entire city. Pass the lovely residential districts of Las Condes and Vitacura en route to the hotel. Evening: \'Santiago by Night\' tour includes dinner and a Folkloric Show. (B,D)

Day 16: Santiago/USA
Day at leisure. Optional tours to Valparaiso, Vina del Mar or the Wine Country are available. Afternoon transfer to the airport for your return flight back to the USA. (B)
