This cosmopolitan vacation features two nights in Paris, where guided sightseeing includes a ride up to the second floor of the Eiffel Tower, an overnight in Lyon, France’s second-largest city, and 2-night stays in Nîmes and Nice. Stops are made in Beaune, the capital of Burgundy; in Châteauneuf-du-Pape for a wine tasting; in Avignon to see the Palace of the Popes; at Pont du Gard to see the Roman aqueduct; and in Arles, the city where Van Gogh painted more than 300 canvases. Before arriving in Nice, also stop in famous Aix-en-Provence and drive through Cannes of film festival fame. Optional excursions to Monte Carlo and the artist town of St. Paul de Vence are available. This unforgettable vacation includes some of the major highlights of France. Extend your tour to Paris: Travel to Paris by “TGV” train, and spend the night in Paris, including buffet breakfast and Local Host service.Special Departure:December 26 - New Year's Eve in Nîmes
Day 1: (Fri.) Board your overnight transatlantic flight.

Day 2: Arrive in Paris, France.
(Sat.) The day is free to rest or to start exploring the French capital. At 6 pm, meet your Tour Director and traveling companions for a special welcome dinner with wine in one of Paris’ fine restaurants. (D)

Day 3: Paris.
(Sun.) Discover the world capital of chic and style with a Local Guide and admire its most famous sights: Arc de Triomphe, Opéra, Madeleine, Louvre, and Champs-Elysées. For a panoramic view, take the elevator to the second floor of the EIFFEL TOWER. An optional excursion to the baroque Palace of Versailles is available. Tonight a lively cabaret show might be just the ticket. (B)

Day 4: Paris–Beaune–Lyon.
(Mon.) A comfortable drive to Beaune, capital of Burgundy. Time for lunch and to explore the attractive little shops before continuing to Lyon, France’s second-largest city. Drive up to FOURVIÈRE HILL with its basilica to enjoy a breathtaking panorama of the city and its Roman ruins. (B)

Day 5: Lyon–Châteauneuf-du-Pape–Avignon–Pont du Gard–Nîmes.
(Tue.) Stop for a WINE TASTING in famous Châteuneuf-du-Pape on your way to Avignon. Here, walk to the magnificent Palace of the Popes and the bridge of the popular song, and have plenty of time for lunch and to browse through the little shops. Next, stop in Pont du Gard for pictures of the famous 2,000-year-old Roman aqueduct, a monumental feat of engineering completed in the year 19 BC, before arriving in Nîmes for your overnight stay. Day 6: Nîmes. Excursion to Arles.
(Wed.) Highlight this morning is an excursion to Arles, the city where Van Gogh painted more than 300 canvases. Your orientation features the famous Roman amphitheater. Afternoon and evening at leisure. (B)

Day 7: Nîmes–Aix-en-Provence–Cannes–Nice.
(Thu.) The morning is dedicated to Aix-en-Provence, one of France’s most elegant cities. Explore its center on foot, stroll along shaded Cours Mirabeau, admire its famous cafés and fountains, and discover colorful squares. Later, head east past Cézanne’s Mount St. Victoire and drive through Cannes, where you will see the Festival Hall and the Croisette on your way to Nice, the sophisticated “Queen of the Riviera.” An optional excursion to Monte Carlo is available. (B)

Day 8: At Leisure in Nice.
(Fri.) Enjoy this enchanting resort on the Côte d’Azur at your own pace. Browse through the elegant shops or stroll along the Promenade des Anglais. Join your Tour Director for a walk through the OLD TOWN and its colorful flower market, and you may wish to join an optional excursion to the famous artist town of St. Paul de Vence. (B)

Day 9: Nice–Paris.
(Sat.) Transfer to the railway station and board the high-speed TGV TRAIN to Paris. (B)

Day 10: (Sun.) Your homebound flight from Paris arrives the same day. (B)
