Tour Itinerary

A fabulous Nile Cruise is included in this wonderful land of ancient civilisation vacation. See the Ramses II Statue, the Great Pyramids and Sphinx, Temples at Philae and Luxor and the Valley of the Kings. All meals included on the Nile Cruise and an option to join the Abu Simbel excursion of a lifetime!
Day 1 - Depart USA
Overnight flight to Cairo.

Day 2 - Arrive Cairo
Welcome to Egypt! You are met on arrival at Cairo Airport and transferred to your hotel. The rest of the day is free to relax or to begin to explore this fascinating city.Hotel: Sofitel Sphinx Hotel

Day 3 - Cairo – Pyramid excursion – Overnight train
This morning we begin our guided sightseeing tour with a visit to Memphis, capital of the Old Kingdom, where a colossal statue of Ramses II and a great alabaster sphinx are most impressive. Then to nearby Sakkara , where we view the Step Pyramid of Zoser I, the oldest in the world. Our highlight visit is of course to see the magnificent Pyramids at Giza and the enigmatic Sphinx. Later, we board our overnight train to Aswan. (Buffet breakfast / Dinner)

Day 4 - Aswan – Nile cruise (3 nights)
This morning, on arrival in Aswan, we visit the impressive High Dam and also the ancient Granite Quarries to see the enormous Unfinished Obelisk. We take a motorboat to the Temple of Isis, rising from the waters of the Nile on the island of Philae. Later we board our cruise ship, our home for the next three nights. (Buffet breakfast / Lunch / Dinner)

Day 5 - Nile cruise: Aswan – Kom-Ombo – Edfu
This morning there is the chance to join an optional excursion by air to see the temples of Abu Simbel, carved out of the rock by Ramses II and later rescued from the rising waters of Lake Nasser. Then we enjoy a felucca ride on the Nile around Aswan’s Botanical gardens. Later we return to our cruise ship and continue to Kom-Ombo and on to Edfu. Tonight we don traditional Egyptian Galabeas for a fun-filled Egyptian Dinner and Galabea Party. (Breakfast / Lunch / Dinner)

Day 6 - Nile cruise: Edfu – Luxor
We visit Edfu and then on to Luxor where we visit the great Temple which provides an unforgettable introduction to ancient Egypt. Then we tour the awe inspiring temple complex of Karnak with its vast Hypostyle Hall and avenues of sphinxes (Breakfast / Lunch / Dinner)

Day 7 - Disembark – Luxor
This morning we visit the incredible Valley of the Kings, the burial place of many of the New Kingdom pharaohs, including of course, young King Tutankhamun. Then we visit the amazing temple of Queen Hatshepsut, Medinet Habou, which blends into the cliff face, and the Colossi of Memnon, which are the two giant seated figures that are all that remains of the mortuary temple of Amon-Ofis III. Later we are transferred to our hotel in Luxor. (Breakfast) Hotel: Sonesta St. George

Day 8 - Luxor – Cairo (2 nights)
In the morning we are at leisure. Then we transfer to the airport for our flight back to the capital city, Cairo, where we are transferred to our hotel. (Buffet breakfast) Hotel: Sofitel Sphinx Hotel

Day 9 - Cairo sightseeing
Today’s sightseeing highlights the Citadel for breathtaking views of the city. Salah El Din started the Citadel in the 12th century, but it owes its present outline to Mohammed Ali who built the Alabaster Mosque, which we will see next on our tour. In Old Cairo we visit the Hanging Church of St. Mary. Then we have a highlight visit to the famous Egyptian Museum. Here, among the many thousands of artifacts on display, we see the splendid treasures of Tutankhamun, including his priceless burial mask. Tonight is at leisure, with time perhaps to visit the Sound and Light show at the Pyramids?. (Buffet breakfast)

Day 10 - Cairo – USA
Time to bid farewell to your Tour Director and new found friends as the tour comes to an end. Airport transfers are available, conditions apply. (Buffet breakfast)

  • Passengers are staying at a London hotel, booked by Trafalgar on the night of their arrival and the night before their departure.
  • Passengers or their Travel Agents supply Trafalgar with accurate flight information not less than 14 days prior to departure.
  • European Gateways: Trafalgar passengers purchasing “Land Only” will receive coach transfers at the times published in the brochure at NO extra charge. However, if these “Land Only” passengers arrive outside the brochure advertised coach transfer times they must make their own arrangements at their own expense.
  • Passengers purchasing “Land and Air” from Trafalgar will receive coach transfers at times published in the brochure or, if they arrive outside of these set times, then a separate transfer will be booked for them. These transfers will be available only on the days of arrival and departure of the tour.
