Welcome to Copenhagen. On arrival you will be met and transferred* to your centrally located hotel by your Scenic Tours Representative. From its humble origins as a fishing village to its heyday as the glittering capital of the Danish Empire, to its current position as one of the world’s premier design capitals, the stories and characters of Copenhagen’s history can be discovered in its sumptuous palaces, copper-roofed town houses and atmospheric cobbled squares. The rest of the day is at leisure, before meeting up this evening with your Tour Director and fellow travellers over a welcome drink.

Today follow the Danish coastline and see Hans Christian Andersen’s ‘Little Mermaid’ and ‘Hamlet’s Castle’ before a visit to Amalienborg Palace, home to Princess Mary and the Danish Royal Family. This morning fly from Copenhagen to the capital of Norway, Oslo. On your Included guided sightseeing tour see the National Theatre and Oslo’s City Hall before a visit to Akershus Castle dating back from 1290. The remainder of the day is free for you to enjoy the sights and sounds of Oslo. This evening you will enjoy a highlight dinner at Holmenkollen, home of Oslo’s ski jumping arena and the host of the 1952 Winter Olympics.

DAY 5: Bergen (FB,D)
This morning say farewell to Oslo and set off on your drive to Bergen. Drive through the scenic and breathtaking Hardangervidda, Europe’s highest mountain plateau and home to Norway’s largest herd of wild reindeer. Continue your journey to Norway’s second largest city, the Hanseatic fishing port of Bergen. Your accommodation is located in Bryggen, the most historic part of the city and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. One of the prettiest cities in Norway, Bergen dates back to the 12th century when the port was an important centre of European trade for the all powerful German Hanseatic League.

Today explore Bergen and drive to Troldhaugen, now a museum; it was the former home of Edvard Grieg, Norway’s greatest composer. Floien for a bird’s eye view of the city and fjord; or (2) Visit Bergen Aquarium, one of the finest and most extensive collections of aquatic life in the region.

This morning start your journey by train from Bergen to Mydral where you change trains and continue on the world-famous Flåm railway. Amid spectacular scenery and roaring waterfalls you will descend 900 metres into the picturesque village of Flåm. From here enjoy a gorgeous fjord cruise to Balestrand where your hotel is located waterside at the junction of the Sognefjord and Esefjord.

This morning travel alongside mountains that are home to Jostedalsbreen, the largest icefield in continental Europe covering 487 square kilometres. Today say goodbye to fjord Norway and travel alongside soaring mountains, icy glaciers, and cascading waterfalls. Enjoy a visit to the beautifully preserved 12th-century stave church in the community of Lom before continuing your journey through to Lillehammer, home of the 1994 Winter Olympics.

DAY 11: Stockholm (FB,D)
Your journey today takes you over the Norway/ Sweden border and south to Karlstad located on the banks of Lake Vänern. In 1905 it was in Karlstad that the peace treaty between Norway and Sweden was signed giving Norway independence as a nation. We have a brief orientation tour of the city before continuing across to the east coast of Sweden and the archipelago that is Stockholm. Stockholm, said to be one of the most beautiful capital cities in the world, is built on 14 islands connected by 57 bridges. The beautiful buildings, the greenery, the fresh air and the proximity to the water are distinctive traits of this city.

Your local guide this morning will showcase the treasures this city holds, including the Royal Palace, Riddarholm Church as well as the dazzling gold chamber in the City Hall, home to the annual Nobel Prize Awards. This afternoon visit the Wasa Ship Museum, where the ornate warship ‘Wasa’ is now housed after it tragically sank on its inaugural voyage in 1628.
DAY 13: Stockholm – Helsinki (FB,D)
Today you will be transferred to the airport for your internal flight to the trendy Finnish capital, Helsinki. On arrival your Included sightseeing tour will take you to such sights as Senate Square, the Sibelius monument, Olympic Stadium and the lively harbour area.

DAY 16: St. Petersburg (FB,L,D)
After breakfast enjoy an Included tour of St. Petersburg. A highlight is St. Isaac’s Cathedral with its huge gilded dome, exquisite mosaics and icons. You’ll also view the baroque Winter Palace and Alexander Column in Palace Square. This afternoon you’ll visit the Hermitage. Formerly the Winter Palace and home of the Tsars, today it houses one of the world’s greatest art collections.

Your day starts at the Peter and Paul Fortress where Peter the Great and all the Russian emperors and empresses are buried. Afterwards relax over lunch in a local restaurant in town. It’s then on to the magnificent summer residence of Russian royalty at Peterhof. Visit Catherine’s Wing and view the Grand Cascade’s waterfalls and fountains.
DAY 18: St. Petersburg (FB,HL,D)
This morning, visit Catherine’s Palace, famous for its grandiose white and gold façade and elaborate gardens. SCENIC ENRICH Enjoy a highlight lunch at the old-world wooden ‘Podvorie’ restaurant. Today you’ll tour the 19th-century Yusupov Palace, where Prince Yusupov murdered Grigory Rasputin, the most controversial figure in Russian history. After lunch, visit a children’s music school and meet the children eager to show you their knowledge of English. This evening join your fellow travellers on the sun deck as your ship sets sail along the Neva river.
DAY 20: Svirstroy (FB,L,D)
Your ship arrives in the village of Svirstroy, between Lake Ladoga and Lake Onega. SCENIC ENRICH It’s all ashore to visit the home of a local family who will serve authentic Russian tea and piroshky, a specialty of the region.
DAY 21: Petrozavodsk (FB,L,D)
Tour the port city of Petrozavodsk and learn about the Soviet era at Kirov Square, Gagarin Square, and Lenin Square, where you’ll stop at the World War II memorial of the eternal flame. Return to the ship for lunch and then attend an Included Karelian Folk Show which celebrates the music and costumes of Russia’s north.
DAY 22: Kizhi Island (FB,L,D)
This morning, your ship docks at Kizhi Island, one of the most ancient inhabited sites in Russia. You’ll visit the museum and its precious collection of wooden churches and chapels. You’ll also view the Church of Transfiguration, with its 22 timbered onion domes.
DAY 23: Goritsy (FB,L,D)
At the medieval village of Goritsy you’ll tour the Kirillo-Belozersky monastery, built in 1397 and home to an impressive collection of Russian Orthodox icons. As the ship sets sail this afternoon, sample the beverage that has been integral to Russian culture for over 600 years - vodka.
DAY 24: Uglich (FB,L,D)
Take an Included walking tour of historic Uglich, part of the Golden Ring of cities around Moscow. The town dates back to the 10th century and was used by the legendary Ivan the Terrible in the 16th century as a base for his attacks against the Tatars. As you cruise towards Moscow, enjoy a night of celebration with your fellow passengers at your Captain’s farewell dinner.

Relax on-board this morning as you sail towards Moscow. Arriving after lunch, you’ll set out on an exploration which includes Red Square, Tverskaya street, the KGB building and a ride on Moscow’s Metro – considered one of the best subway systems in the world.

After breakfast, you’ll tour the Kremlin, seat of the former Soviet Union’s intrigue. In the State Armory, you’ll see priceless weaponry, jewels, Fabergé eggs and ceremonial robes. After your tour enjoy free time to explore the bustling city of Moscow on your own. This evening you’ll witness a thrilling National Russian Show performed by fifty folk dancers.

SCENIC ENRICH This morning travel to the Cosmonaut Training Centre at Star City. Inside the training facility is a full-size mock-up of the Mir Space Station. Here you will have the opportunity to meet with a real cosmonaut and see space simulators that prepare cosmonauts for lift-off before lunch at the venue. Tonight you’ll attend the internationally acclaimed Moscow Circus.
DAY 28: Moscow (FB,L,D)
Your day starts with expansive views of Moscow from the Sparrow Hills. Then visit Novodevichy Cemetery, where Anton Chekhov and former President Boris Yeltsin are buried. SCENIC ENRICH This afternoon enjoy a private tour of the most well known icon in Russia, St Basil’s Cathedral.
