Welcome to the volcanic island of Terceira, located in the Azores archipelago of Portugal. Transfer to your hotel and arrive in time for lunch. After, take a city tour of Angra do Heroismo. Begin in the heart of the city, at the main square known as Praca Velha, lined with colorful buildings. Learn about the city's history and its significance as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Stroll through the charming streets and notice the well-preserved architecture, reflecting the city's past as an important port and trading center during the Age of Discoveries. The narrow cobblestone streets feature traditional houses, adorned with intricate azulejo tiles and ornate balconies. Continue to Se Cathedral of Angra do Heroismo, an impressive cathedral that dominates the skyline. This 16th century cathedral is a masterpiece of religious architecture and boasts an intricate interior filled with artifacts. Return to the hotel for dinner

DAY 3, Tuesday - Explore Terceira Island
The exploration of Terceira Island begins in Monte Brasil, at Pico das Cruzinhas, an overlook that offers sweeping views of the island. Head to Serra do Cume, famous for its patchwork of green pastures and home to the largest crater in the Azores. Afterward, visit the bullring, and meet a bullfighter. Gain insight into the bullfighting tradition on Terceira, dating back to the 16th century. Continue to Sao Sebastiao a quaint village, home to the oldest church on the island, and take a stroll through its narrow streets. Next, venture to Porto Martins, a coastal town, known for its natural pools and stunning ocean views. During lunch, taste alcatra, a regional dish of roasted beef. In the afternoon, delve into the island's underground treasures with a visit to Algar do Carvão, a fascinating volcanic cave. View the intricate rock formations, stalactites, and stalagmites. Proceed to Biscoitos and visit the natural swimming pools formed by black volcanic rock along the rugged coastline. Later, drive back to the hotel, passing by the villages of Doze Ribeiras and Sao Mateus

DAY 4, Wednesday - Flight to Ponta Delgada, Sete Cidades
Transfer to the airport for your flight to Ponta Delgada, the capital of the Azores archipelago. On arrival, take a scenic drive along the western part of the island. Stop at the famous Vista do Rei viewpoint and admire the magnificent views of the Sete Cidades crater, the iconic twin lakes and the village below. Descend into the crater and stop at the village. Spend free time before heading to the hotel. Check into your room with time to settle in before dinner at a local restaurant

DAY 5, Thursday - Pineapple Plantation, Lagoa do Fogo, Caldeira Velha, Quinta da Jardinete
This morning, stop at a pineapple plantation, and witness firsthand the cultivation of this tropical fruit in greenhouses. Discover the intricate growing process and harvesting, and learn about the importance of this industry to the Azores. Then, head towards the town of Lagoa and venture to Lagoa do Fogo, a volcanic crater lake, via a mountain road. View the island at an elevation of 2,953 feet and marvel at the deep blue waters of the lake, nestled amidst lush green hills and towering cliffs. Afterward, proceed to Caldeira Velha, a natural hot spring located in the heart of the island. Continue to Ribeira Grande, a charming town famous for its basalt architecture. Here, visit the Azorean Emigration Museum, housed in a former monastery, showcasing a vast collection of artifacts, photographs, and documents related to Azorean emigration. Next, on to Fenais da Luz for a visit to Quinta da Jardinete, a stunning wine estate. One of the highlights of the day is the traditional cozido lunch, a unique culinary tradition deeply rooted in Azorean culture. Then, tour the vibrant Mercado dos Lavradores (Farmer's Market), known for its fresh produce, exotic flowers and local crafts. Finish the tour by experiencing the renowned Madeira wine. Visit a wine cellar, and gain insight into the history, production and aging process of Madeira wine. Sample different varieties, ranging from dry to sweet. Depart Funchal and head towards the north coast. Reach Encumeada, a viewpoint that offers sweeping views of the island's north and south coast. Arrive in the small town of Seixal and join a local family for home hosted lunch*. Sample homemade dishes, paired with local wine. In the afternoon, stop at the fishing village of Camara de Lobos and visit a traditional fisherman bar.
