Touring the U.S. South with Globus

By: Bree Rodriguez

Filled with history and music, and a dash of whiskey and race horses, Globus’ Sights and Sounds of the South introduces travelers to the hospitable culture of three states south of the Mason-Dixon line: Tennessee, Kentucky and North Carolina. I traveled on this memorable itinerary with my husband last June, and we were surprised at how much we learned from our knowledgeable tour director and local guides at the various sightseeing stops.

Our first hotel in Memphis, Tennessee, was right beside the trolley stop that runs directly to wonderful Beale Street. Here, brass bands play on the streets and clubs rock with blues tunes. Everyone on our tour was wowed by nearby Graceland, the palatial home of Elvis Presley. The National Civil Rights Museum was another highlight in Memphis. Located at the Lorraine Motel, site of the assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., the museum traces the Civil Rights movement.Continue reading

Celebrating Magic on the Carnival Magic

Seaside Theatre

Growing up, I was neither a big believer of magic (or wearing big red shoes). Sure, it was fun to think some of us possess extraordinary abilities to pull random objects from top hats, levitate, or split a girl in a box in half and put her back together. It was certainly entertaining to watch, but as a child, I never bought into it. However, a year after meeting my significant other, I’m starting to believe I do, in fact, have some kind of magic ability. There is no way I can be this lucky to celebrate my one year anniversary with this person without some sort of extraordinary explanation. It is for that reason that I decided to celebrate one year of magic on the magnificent Carnival Magic.

Our 7-night Western Caribbean itinerary was nothing short of breathtaking. Our three ports of call were Montego Bay, Jamaica, Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands, and Cozumel, Mexico. From the very first moment you lay your eyes on this massive 3690 passenger ship, you can’t help but feel a little giddy inside. With 15 total decks and 1004 feet in length, all the onboard experiences you can hope for, and the smell of newness still in the air (maiden voyage in 2011 and as of this writing the second newest ship for Carnival’s fleet), this ship is nothing short of spectacular.

European Traveler Tour with Trafalgar

By: Sunny Lewis

Here’s a perfect tour for anyone traveling to Europe for the first time: the European Traveler from Trafalgar. This 11-day trip covers four countries, and it overnights in six cities, from London to Rome. It’s a fast-paced itinerary, but it was ideal for my adult son, Jared, who accompanied me on this tour. He had never traveled “across the pond,” but on this vacation he got a little taste of England, France, Switzerland and Italy – whetting his appetite to return to Europe sometime soon!

The Romantic Rhine

By: Linh Nguyen
Senior Travel Consultant

I recently spent 8 days on the Rhine River with Avalon Waterways on their new Visionary ship. Even though this was not my first river cruise, I can say that I was still absolutely impressed with the whole experience. The ship is modern and comfortable with enough things to do while you’re cruising through this beautiful river. The pre-planned itinerary was well balanced between included land tours, optional excursions, and free time. Everyone from the Tour Director down to the local guides was friendly, helpful, and always went above and beyond to make sure my trip was as memorable as possible. The Romantic Rhine with Avalon Waterways was one of my most memorable vacations to date.
