National Park Service Centennial – Celebrating 100 Years Of Service

The National Park Service, the agency created by Congress in 1916 to be in charge of the stewardship, conservation, and preservation of America’s national parks, monuments, and other historical properties of interest, is celebrating a special anniversary soon. On August 25, 2016, the National Park Service officially turns 100.

To mark the special anniversary, the National Park Service is celebrating the centennial all year, starting with the Tournament of Roses Parade on January 1. More to the point, the National Park Service is doing everything they can to encourage Americans to visit and engage with the parks, and to introduce a new generation of Americans to the wonders and beauty contained within these natural preserves.

This centennial campaign makes 2016 an ideal time to take a vacation to a National Park. Even better, some of our travel partners have put together packages for this specific purpose.

Globus’ Centennial Celebration

Perhaps the most spectacular of these travel offerings comes from Globus. Globus has long been a supporter of America’s national parks and the National Park Foundation,  through the company’s GoParks! program, a series of guided tours that provide unique experiences in and a deeper appreciation of America’s national parks. Globus has a wide range of tours under this umbrella, but for the centennial, Globus has an extraordinary tour planned:

The Centennial Celebration will mark 100 years of the National Park Service with 100 days of touring those parks. This massive excursion is not for the faint of heart, but if you have the time and the love of nature, you can have a one-of-a-kind experience. The itinerary (actually 103 days) covers thirty-four of America’s National Parks and other protected historical sights. This package allows you to traverse the natural beauty and the diversity among it that has led so many people to call America the promised land.

Your adventure covers many parts of the country and many geographic features:

  • The rock formations and cliffs of parks like Grand Canyon and Bryce Canyon
  • The mountains, wildlife, and alpine scenery of the parks in the Rockies and Pacific Northwest
  • Kings Canyon Park and Sequoia Park, home to some of the largest, most majestic trees known to man
  • The Hawaii volcanoes, and the volcanic landscape of Haleakala National Park
  • Multiple cruises, including a 7-night Alaskan cruise

If you’re new to vacationing in the outdoors, or this seems intimidating, not to worry. The GoParks! line has plenty of tours that are shorter journeys to specific areas of the country. Perhaps you could try one of them. Most of Globus’ other GoParks! tours range from 8 to 15 days.

Whatever your preference, if you want to take a tour of the National Parks, Globus has the right package for you. If you want to celebrate the National Park Service’s 100th Anniversary in 2016 by making a pilgrimage to some of America’s great outdoors, visit AffordableTours.com or call 1-800-935-2620, and one of our professionals will work with you to assure you the best price on your vacation.
