Review: 4 Night Western Caribbean Cruise With Carnival

Western Caribbean Cruise With Carnival

Hello, future cruise travelers! I traveled solo for the first time on the beautiful Carnival Vista. It was a short 4 Night Western Caribbean cruise with Carnival out of Galveston, Texas. At first, I didn’t know what to think or whether I would like traveling by myself, but it was fantastic! Every day I would meet new people either at a venue, dining, or out by the pool. From there, we would meet up for shows, did shore excursions together, or dine again for breakfast, lunch or dinner. So for you worrywarts who are anxious about traveling by yourself, think nothing of it and just do it! You won’t be sorry! With the friends that I met, we’re already planning on our next voyage out to sea together!

We sailed out of Galveston, Texas on a beautiful Tuesday afternoon and headed toward Cozumel, Mexico. Everyone was on the Lido deck, or on their balcony, listening to music and enjoying a late lunch. It was exciting to hear the horn blow from the huge ship, it heightens your enthusiasm as your sea adventure begins. People with their cameras ready capture the Galveston port while we make our way out to sea.

Once out at sea, the fun begins. Carnival always has a pool party with food, music, and dancing or if your preference is more of a relaxing quiet voyage, you can lounge on the Serenity Adult-Only Retreat on deck 15. The choice is yours!

The Carnival Vista offers a wide variety of restaurants including seafood, Mexican, Asian, Italian, burgers, pizza, sushi and buffet. Some are open 24 hours a day including room service! They have specialty restaurants as well. For a small surcharge you can dine at The Chef’s Table, a multicourse dinner hosted by one of Carnival’s master chefs, Fahrenheit 555 Steakhouse, a dining experience not to be missed if you’re a steak lover, or the Cucina del Capitano, a delightful restaurant that has inspiring Italian-American dishes. I particularly loved the Horizons Restaurant which is included in the price of the cruise and offers a menu with a different selection of favorites every night. Oh and let’s not forget Guy’s Burger Joint and Guy’s Pig and Anchor Bar-B-Que…so delicious! But a fan favorite with everyone is the Pizzeria del Capitano and it’s open 24 hours a day! It’s the best pizza I’ve ever had on a cruise.

The Casino is very popular on Carnival but if that’s not your thing they have plenty of other activities to do onboard. They have 5 bars, 2 clubs, trivia games, karaoke, and many shows which include singers, dancers, and magicians. My all-time favorite is The Punchliner Comedy Club! They brought in two skilled comedians that have you laughing so hard your side hurt. Please note they have an early “family show” and then later an “adult comedy show”. I went to both and met up with some friends that I made while on the ship.

When we finally arrived in Cozumel there were many excursions you could pick from. You could swim with the dolphins, snorkel with the stingrays, go scuba diving, or go to a pristine beach and relax.

I chose to do the inclusive Passion Island by Catamaran and loved it! The service staff made sure you were having a good time and the free drinks and food were great. You had the opportunity to lounge in the shade or get in the water and enjoy the water trampolines and inflatables. I did it all!!! At the end of the day, we got back on the Power Catamaran for a wonderful Joint boat ride back to the ship.

Later that afternoon around 5:30 pm, we set sail again back towards Galveston. I only had two nights left on our Western Caribbean cruise with Carnival before we arrived back to our port. So I made the most of it and participated in every activity I could, watched as many shows as I could, and even spent some time with my new found friends at dinner and in the Casino!

The moral of the story is this. Whether you’re traveling solo or with a group of friends a cruise is definitely an all-inclusive way to travel and have fun, meet new people and enjoy life! So don’t think twice next time and just do it! You’ll be glad you did.
