Greek Island Hopper With Trafalgar

Visiting Greece and its islands has been on my bucket list. This summer, I was fortunate enough to cross that off by touring on the Greek Island Hopper with Trafalgar. This tour was right up my alley since it is at leisure pace, which allows for longer stays in each city and plenty of time on your own. The tour consisted of 2 nights in Athens, 3 in Mykonos, 3 in Santorini, and 1 last night back at Athens. I enjoyed that Trafalgar took care of all the logistics and included some meals while allowing us to explore local cuisines on our own.

In Athens, the tour included a visit to the famous Acropolis, where we had plenty of time to hike up and take photos from every angle possible. Make sure you wear comfortable shoes as it can be quite rocky. We stayed at the Radisson Blu, which had a perfect view of the Acropolis and was only a 10-minute ride from town. Getting around town was fairly easy and affordable. From the hotel to the town, it was approximately six Euros.

During my free time, I visited the Acropolis Museum, built to house thousands of antiquities removed over the centuries during various archaeological digs on the Acropolis. If you like ancient history, it is a must-visit for only ten Euros.

For our next destination on the Greek Island Hopper tour with Trafalgar, we departed from Piraeus on a speed ferry to Mykonos for our 3 nights. I’ve never seen such a big ferry before. It was a great experience, the seats were very comfortable, and the ride took 3 hours.

We arrived at the gorgeous Pelican Bay hotel, which is a 4-minute walk to the Platis Gialos Beach. Public transportation makes it very easy to get around town. From the hotel to town it was only 15 minutes and for 1.80 Euros.

Mykonos is a dreamy island best-known for its nightlife, striking sunsets, gorgeous beaches, houses painted white with brightly colored shutters, and bougainvillea trees in bloom. The highlight of my trip was strolling around narrow white streets and admiring the traditional Cycladic architecture.

A must-do when in Mykonos is go on a hunt to find Petros, a local celebrity pelican. Hint: you may have some luck finding him hanging around the Tavernas or the waterfronts of Little Venice.

At the end of our three days in Mykonos, another ferry ride took us to the romantic island of Santorini.

We stayed at the beautiful El Greco resort, which is a short walk from the town of Fira. It is safe to say that after the Acropolis, the picture-perfect Santorini is one of the most photographed places in Greece. Characterized by its rocky landscapes, volcanic beaches, and beautiful hilltop villages, if you’ve seen a photo of Greece recently, it was likely snapped in Santorini!

I took a shuttle to Oia- the most famous Cycladic settlement in the whole archipelago, yes this is the spot where the famous blue domes are located. It was a mad goose chase to find the perfect photo location for the blue domes.

It’s situated on top of an impressive cliff and offers a spectacular view over the volcano of Palia, the Nea Kameni Island, and the Aegean Sea.

Sadly, this adventure came to an end, but it was an adventure of a lifetime. Anyone looking to take a trip to Greece without the stress of planning, I would highly recommend the Greek Island Hopper with Trafalgar.
