Review: 7 Night Western Caribbean With Royal Caribbean

This was my first cruise with Royal Caribbean and I can honestly say they live up to all of the positive reviews. My family and I took the Western Caribbean with Royal Caribbean Cruise out of Galveston Texas on March 10, 2019, which stopped in Cozumel, Grand Cayman, and Falmouth, Jamaica. It was an amazing trip that we will remember forever.

Embarkation in Galveston was a breeze. It is one of the easiest and most organized cruise terminals you will ever go through. Once onboard we took our time to explore a bit and get the lay of the land. One thing I noticed about Royal Caribbean’s Liberty of the Seas is that the ship is very well laid out. It was very easy to navigate compared to other ships I have been on so you get the lay of the land quickly and it’s almost impossible to get lost. It is also one of the nicest ships I have ever experienced.

Our first port of call was Cozumel, Mexico. What a beautiful island! We booked an excursion through Royal Caribbean that took us to Playa Mia which is a huge beach area with two swimming pools and a splash pad for the kiddos. They also have a large inflated play area out in the ocean for anyone who wants to try. We had a remarkable day here just lounging on the beach and swimming in the pools and taking advantage of all of the amenities available to us. The food we ordered off the menu was also very good and everything was kept very clean and the staff was very accommodating to everyone. It was truly a great experience.

The next stop for us was Grand Cayman in the Cayman Islands. Here you have to tender in as the ship is unable to dock close to shore. However, we hopped right on a tender boat and we were on shore in less than 10 minutes. We took our time exploring Georgetown and we ended up having lunch at Guy Harvey’s Restaurant on Church St.

It was a cool relaxing meal and the fish was some of the freshest fish we have ever tasted. We then took our time getting back to our tender boat stopping to shop here and there along the way. It was a great relaxing day in Cayman and the weather was wonderful. We hopped right back on a tender boat and we were back to the ship again in less than ten minutes.

Our final stop was in Falmouth, Jamaica and this was definitely our favorite. We booked a private excursion to 876 Beach Club. Our driver picked us promptly just outside of the port and after a 15-minute ride, we arrived at one of the nicest most relaxing beaches I have ever been to. We were all in awe of how beautiful it was. They were quick to greet us and made sure we were taken care of every step of the way. Our family was set up nicely under a huge tree with lots of shade.

The sand was unbelievably soft and you could walk out in the water for what seemed like a mile. They also had a large inflated play area out in the ocean and this time we had it all to ourselves. Since it is a private beach there is very little traffic and we shared the beach with maybe 12 other people during our time there. It was truly an amazing experience.

The food onboard was absolutely amazing! We ate in the Main Dining Room most of the time and everything we had was very, very good! I highly recommend the French Onion Soup. I had it five times because it was that good!

We signed up for My Time Dining but we made sure to make nightly reservations ahead of time online. This got us the same table every night and we were very fortunate to be assigned at the Captain’s Table right in the center of the Dining Room. Our assigned waitress must be the best in the business because she provided the best service I have ever received at any restaurant anywhere! Her assistant waiter was also incredible. They were both extraordinary!

The entertainment onboard was very good as well. During our time on the ship, we took in several shows. The Ice Skating show was very well done and very entertaining. We also got to see the Las Vegas Tenors who sang some big hits from the past five decades. Fire and Ice was a very nice acrobatic show similar to something you would see at Cirque du Soleil. And the last show was a rendition of Saturday Night Fever which was very well done. Combine this world-class entertainment with all of the other things available onboard the ship and there is never a dull moment as you can always find something to do.

Whether it be ice skating, putt putt golf, swimming, dancing, singing or just relaxing, the Liberty of the Seas does not disappoint! I cannot say enough about our cruise onboard the Liberty of the Seas. Every single thing about our Royal Caribbean cruise was wonderful so I would highly recommend it to anyone.
