Austria, Germany & Czech Republic 2015 With Adventures by Disney

Traveling with Adventures by Disney is Magical!  You are met by one of two Adventure Guides and transferred to your hotel where you are met by the other Adventure Guide.  Both Adventure Guides started snapping pictures as they did throughout the Adventure, at the end of the Adventure you are able to access all photos taken, plus some were printed during the trip and presented then.

The extra special admission to extraordinary places were extremely enjoyable.  Once every day Adventurers receive a special Disney pin to add to your collection and the only way to accumulate these special pins is to be on Adventure by Disney.

You are not just a passenger on an escorted tour, you are an Adventurer and the children are Junior Adventurers and the Adventure Guides make sure you are having an Adventure of a life time with their care, knowledge and humor. Of course Disney offers what you can expect the name attracts, exclusive visits and activities.  Throughout the tour you realize the extra special touches and treatment ONLY by traveling with Disney can provide.

Children are entertained with special events and make friends with other Junior Adventures.  Adventures are not just for the Juniors, Disney offers adult only departures.

Stephanie and Dean were our Adventure guides and they were more fun and entertaining that you can even imagine.   Not only were they wonderful with the children but very entertaining.  On the motor coach, where WI – Fi is included, they showed movies, The Sound of Music the day we were driving to Salzburg, and Stephanie would play music of the region.  She grew up in Eastern Germany and told of her life which was fascinating to hear a young girls memory of what was a great childhood. Dean and Stephanie worked together so well. One would take the lead and the other the rear.

We received a small duffle bag, a tote, a small black bag for laundry, pictures along the way, the Disney pins, documents wallet/bag that could be wore as a handbag over the shoulder, all very handy.

The Adventure I had the privilege to experience was Storybook Kingdoms, staying in Prague, Berchtesgaden and Vienna. The itinerary was fabulous and the Adventure was Storybook!!

After the overnight flight to Prague we were met by Dean, our Adventure Guide and transferred to the Prague Marriott Hotel –  centrally located in the heart of the vibrant city that is both Old World and modern. Welcomed by Stephanie, our other Adventure Guide, pictures were taken and advise on how to begin experiencing Prague,  Beautiful walk around this vibrant city!

Our welcome Reception and Dinner was at the Obicni Dom – Old world dining hall with beautiful stained glass window and authentic entertainment and food.  Highlights in Prague were viewing the Prague Palace and the changing of the guard. Marionette – Making Workshop at the National Marionette Theatre Afternoon Prague River Cruise – sightseeing along the Vitava River enjoying views of the Prague Castle and the Charles Bridge Dinner and entertainment at the Folklore Gardens – traditional singing and dancing during an authentic meal.

On the way to Berchtesgaden stopped for a tour of Cesky Krumlov and lunch and shopping in this quaint town.

Continue to the Kempinski Hotel in Berchtegaden set in the Bavarian Alps.  Adults relaxed over a delicious meal and great conversation with fellow Adventures while the Junior Adventures dine together and watched a movie.

Next morning we head into the cool mountain interior for a privately guided tour of the Eishole Ice Cave, saw the amazing ethereal Ice Cathedral with it’s arches and turrets. Quite a hike and tram ride up the mountain, spectacular views.  Stopped for lunch at the Odel House restaurant with a view overlooking the mountains surrounding the ice cave.

Privately Guided Tour of Hohenwerfen Castle perched high up from the valley floor and engaged in a special falconry demonstration at the castle’s Falconry Centre.

Privately guided tour of locations from the Film The Sound of Music. From the Mirabell Gardens to the Hellbrunn Castle saw the locations and inspirations from the classic movie.  Plus, we saw the movie on the motor coach before arriving in Salzburg and enjoyed some sing along fun.

Lunch at the Hellbrunn Castle and a private tour of the Baroque castle that was built in 1613 and the trick fountains designed to spray unsuspecting guests.

Free afternoon to enjoy the beauty of Salzburg.

Experienced the time-honored hospitality in St. Peter’s Stifskeller’s restaurant that first opened its doors in 803 AD  History meets modern at this UNESCO World Heritage Site where the menu is as timeless as the restaurant itself.   During dinner were transported back in time with a private performance by a duo of Mozart violinist serenading with classical sounds of 18-century Salzburg.

Donned our miners overalls and headed deep into the mysterious world of the Salzbergwek Berchtesgaden Salt Mines where we glided on a raft over the glimmering salt lake.

Afterword headed over to the village bakery and tried our hand at pretzel making, a tradition that dates back to the 5th century. Enjoyed eating our fresh baked pretzels.

Lunch in Mondsee  overlooking the lake in the this quaint town and the church Maria married Captain Von Trapp in the movie The Sound of Music.

During the motor coach ride we were entertained by Dean and Stephanie, playing music, telling stories, playing games…we had a fun time with a game of Coach Olympics.  Each side of the coach competed in fun games.  Blowing a balloon along a string, group drawing, passing a roll of toilet paper without breaking.   Made for a fun way to pass the time on the ride to Vienna.

The Ritz Carlton was our home in Vienna. Fabulous hotel in a great location, easy to walk to parks, shopping, sights and dining.

Waltzed through the baroque world at its finest as we were treated to a private tour of Austria’s most visited destination and a UNESCO World Heritage site:  Schonbrunn Palace.  While the adults tour the magnificent palace, Junior Adventures were delighted with a visit to it’s unique children’s museum.

Learned the art of strudel, one of Austria’s most popular treats, and then enjoyed a tasting along with coffee and hot chocolate.

Engaged in the age old art of puppetry where we got backstage access for a private demonstration and show.  We were able to perform with our marionettes we made while in Prague.

Afternoon free to explore the beauty of Vienna before we were treated to an after hours visit of the Vienna Zoo, the oldest zoo in Europe. A private dinner at the Emperor’s Pavilion in the heart of the Vienna Zoo, the former breakfast pavilion of the Emperor.

Visited the Spanish Riding School of Vienna,  famed equestrian school, located in Vienna’s Hofburg Castle and a backstage special tour of the horses and stables.  Met with a rider and learned first hand about being a ride at this famous school. Strolled through the streets of the Old Quarter of Vienna taking in historic sights of this beautiful section of the city.

Lunch and afternoon on own where we toured the famous Belvedere Palace and Museum and others explored Vienna.

Learned the grace and beauty of one of the oldest ballroom dances, dating back to the 18th century, with private Waltz lessons at the Elmayer School.  Met Mr. Mayer and was able to scratch off waltzing in Vienna from my bucket list, as the young performers took turns dancing with the Adventurers.

Our Farewell Dinner was held at the Pairistenkeller Restaurant, which is the oldest restaurant in Austria, dating back 300 years. We had a private area and had a tour of the cellar and its eclectic collection. Donned hats of the period and celebrated our wonderful Central Europe Adventure – Storybook Kingdom.

The Adventure was Storybook and a Magical Memory.
