This past July, my husband and two sons were fortunate enough to enjoy a delightful week in the Mediterranean and Adriatic with Azamara Cruises aboard their ship, the Quest. One week after the Cannes Film Festival, I took a familiarity trip, Western Mediterranean with Star Clippers Line, aboard the current largest sailing yacht sailing today – the Royal Clipper. At 439 feet long, sporting five masts and 42 sails, she’s a beauty. Carrying 106 crew, and 227 passengers at full capacity, we enjoyed a 1 crew to every 2 passenger ratio, presenting really excellent service.

Our Italy with Trafalgar tour started with an evening orientation drive through the city to see St. Peter’s basilica in the Vatican City, an independent state with some of the world’s most extra-ordinary art and antiques. This day ended with a welcome reception where we had an opportunity to meet and greet our fellow travelers at a lovely, underground, carved rock restaurant.
