Zakynthos, the third largest of the Ionian Islands, has a population of about 42,000. The island is named after Zacynthus, son of a legendary Arcadian chief Dardanus. The name, like all similar names ending in -nthos, is pre-Mycenaean or Pelasgian in origin. The Mild climate and the plentiful winter rainfall makes the island dense in vegetation. The biggest products here are olive oil, currants, grapes, and citrus fruit.
Gerakas Bay is one of the most
stunning beaches here. Enjoy the white sandy beaches, warm
waters and the perfect weather. Very ideal for swimming,
snorkeling, and other water activities.
Spiliotissa is a gorgeous medieval monastery located in the
Greek Countryside. The architecture is very beautiful to look
at. This area is well known for its unusual religious
relics.
