Puerto Chacabuco is situated along the coast of Chile, 250 miles south of Puerto Montt, it is here that the northern Patagonian ice sheets fall into the sea. One of the last places that are unspoiled and underdeveloped places left on earth. The main reason people visit this port is to see its unspoiled natural beauty. The town itself consists of one main road, a fish plant and a pier.
Take an excursion to Rio Simpson National Reserve which will allow you to see
spectacular cascading waterfalls, canyon rivers, beaches and forests. This
may take almost a day to see everything.
Another option if you do not have time to stroll along looking at the beautiful
countryside is to take a flight-seeing journey through Laguna San Rafael
National Park. You can take a small plane and explore the wonders of this
glacier filled park. Catch a glimpse of a rare geological formation caused
by a volcano eruption.
