  • Much of Eastern Russia is close to the Arctic, so the weather can be very cold, especially in January, when the temperature can drop below -14 degrees Celsius. Depending on what time of the year you are taking the cruise, it is always better to pack some extra winter wear in case the weather drops a little lower than what you expected.
  • If you are planning to travel to multiple cities on your own, you will need to make sure that your mode of transport is suitable for the intended tour, as the distances between the cities are huge and some of the areas in Eastern Russia still lack basic infrastructure like well-built roads.
  • Recently there has been a huge influx of tourists into these areas, which has created overall acceptability of tourists in the minds of the locals which will help you connect with the locals and understand their culture more easily.
