Another site, the St. Thomas Synagogue, speaks to the city's diverse cultural fabric, being one of the oldest synagogues in the Western Hemisphere.

But it's not just about structures; it's about atmosphere. The past lives on in the vibrant present, particularly in the city's music, crafts, and festivals. The lively Carnival celebrations, infused with traditional music like quelbe, are a testament to African cultural endurance and adaptation. Moreover, the cuisine, a blend of native ingredients and cooking techniques from different cultures, tells stories of the city's journey through time.

This rich past contributes to a unique community spirit, a sense of resilience, and a celebration that welcomes visitors today.
