Keelung Cruises

Overview

Located near the northern tip of Taiwan, the international port is a deep natural harbor protected by mountains on three sides. The east part of the port link up Jhong Jheng Road, Keelung City, while the west stretches out to Jhong Shan Road; the northern portion connects with He-Ping Island and the port ends to the south. The Port of Keelung is a multi-function port. It simultaneously provides for military, commercial and fishing purposes. When typhoons threaten the area, many local, Hong Kong, and mainland China fishing boats seek shelter in the harbor from the rough seas, they are occasionally joined by other foreign boats also seeking protection from the storm. There may be  300-400 fishing boats in the outer harbor at any one time and that can be a problem for channel safety. Just about 7,000 to 8,000 personnel pass in and out the port areas each day. Those authorized to enter the areas are crew, passengers, shipping agents, cargo handlers, container transporters and other relevant personnel.

Things to Do

When visiting Keelung, Taiwan you can enjoy the outdoors to the fullest.  Take a bike riding trip on the Dan Shui Riverside Cycle Path. This well-maintained path begins to the south side of the Tam Sui station, and runs all the way to the Hung Shu Lin MRT stop. Get a work out and explore a beautiful country.

Take a hike and visit the Seven Stars Mountain. Intimidating some 3,900 feet over northern Taipei, Seven Stars Mountain is the highest peak in the Yangmingshan National Park and a favorite of local and tourist hikers.

If you don't want to be that adventurous then visit one of the parks like Guai Ts Ken Nature Park or Nan Gang First Park.
