Overview

La Romana is a province of the Dominican Republic, and also the name of its capital. It is a company town and the Central Romana Corporation owns the majority of the town. It is a town with nearly all employment, in the tourism industry or with The Central Romana Corporation or with the Free Zone or one of the service businesses there. La Romana, Dominican Republic is characterized by its remarkable influence in the country's tourism programs. Its filled with attractive beaches and numerous hotels and resorts. There are also many budding suburban areas with huge mansions that are encircled by tropical trees. This town has a big population, with high-density areas. La Romana is a fairly good-looking city compared to many other cities in the Dominican Republic. It also has a very productive sugar plant.

Things to Do

La Romana is also home to Casa de Campo, one of the biggest resorts and top golfing destinations. The Teeth of the the Dog golf course is one of the preeminent courses in the world.

Visit the Isla Saona National Park. This national park is a home for sea turtles, and lots of different species of wildlife. It is located just south of La Romana.
