Sydney Harbour is one of the most beautiful and busiest cruise ports in the world. Situated in New South Wales, Australia, there are two cruise terminals at Circular Quay and Balmain and is home to the iconic Opera House and Harbour Bridge. Sydney is a city for everything, from famous landmarks and pristine beaches, to beautiful gardens and excellent dining, visitors can find a little something for everyone.

Things to Do

Iconic Neighborhoods

  • The Rocks- This area of old Sydney is where early European influence is most prevalent. Here, travelers can walk through cobblestone streets to find small-town artisans, old world pubs, open air markets, and is a haven to foodies everywhere. Several tours are available to take to the many historical buildings in the area.
  • Bondi Beach- Just a short train or bus ride to the southeast of downtown Sydney is the quintessential beach town. It is populated by cafes, restaurants, shops, and hotels and is the site of the well-known Bondi Beach. Take in the sites at Icebergs Dining Room and Bar where its pool is refilled by ocean waves.

  • For those looking for a more active approach to cruising, visitors can climb the 440 foot Sydney Harbour Bridge- the tallest of steel arch bridges in the world. Based on Hell Gate Bridge in New York, Sydney’s is double the size and well worth the 1.5 to 3.5 hour hiking tour to the top for panoramic views. Those wishing to stay closer to the ground can opt for a ferry ride for views of the bridge instead.
  • Take a day trip to Hunter Valley, the oldest wine country in Australia, full of local vineyards and the famous semillon vintage. Take a winery tour, attend a wine class to learn more about the process, or take a hot air balloon ride for a wider, picturesque view of the valley below. The region also boasts top-tier restaurants, spas, and excellent golf clubs.

Family Friendly

  • No trip to Australia is complete without visiting with koalas and kangaroos! Take the kids on a trip to the Featherdale Wildlife Park with over 1700 varieties of animals, the largest native animal collection in Australia. Enjoy a personal koala encounter, feed the kangaroos and wallabies, and see the emus, dingoes, and Tasmanian devils. Kids can interact with keeper presentations, animal feedings, and even attend educational presentations to learn about different animals in the outdoor amphitheatre.
  • If you have more energy to burn, take the whole family on the 3.7-mile coastal trek on the Bondi to Coogee Walk. Take in the scenic coastal views dotted with multiple beaches on one side and cafes with coffee or fresh juice on the other. Remember to keep an eye out for wildlife. At the end, hang out at Coogee beach and catch some sun and waves.
