Overview

Tromso is a city and municipality in the county of Troms, Norway. The municipality of Tromso covers large districts outside the town. The Port of Tromso got its rights as a market town in 1794 and in 1827 the harbor commission started. The port has now existed for over 175 years and still strong. Troms?the seventh largest city in Norway by population.

Things to Do

Mack's Brewery is a must visit if you are in the area. This is one of the microbreweries in the world. This started operation in 1877 and has been doing well ever since. There are tours within the complex which show you the brewery. Also, they will give you a shot glass with a sample of beer for you to take home as a souvenir.

The Tromso Museum was in built in 1960 and is also associated with the University of Tromiso. The museum is over three floors high and holds many types of natural science such as botany, ecology, zoology, and geology. This is a great place to visit to pick up on some background of the city.
