Your Norwegian Cruise Line Tour Director will greet you in Seward upon debarkation of Norwegian Sun for your fully escorted tour. A lunch stop will be made in the community of Soldotna, also known as the "Fishing Capital of the World." Enjoy a brief stop near the world-famous Kenai River and see where the monster King Salmon fish are lured by fisherman, and learn about the five species of salmon that call Alaska home.

As you continue through the mountains of the Kenai Peninsula down the coast, enjoy the spectacular views of Kachemak Bay, the Kenai Mountains and several volcanic peaks across Cook Inlet, including Mt. Augustine, Mt. Iliamna, and Mt. Redoubt. Near the southern tip of the Kenai Peninsula you'll encounter the town of Homer, an authentic Alaskan community not geared toward mass tourism and often described as "where the land ends and the sea begins." Homer has a history steeped in commercial fishing and a mild climate moderated by the Pacific Ocean. This results in warmer winters and cooler summers compared to other areas of Alaska. Homer is also famous for the Homer Spit, a 4.5-mile-long natural spit of land extending into Kachemak Bay, which you can explore in the evening.

More than just the mountain, Denali National Park is six-million acres of wild land. This afternoon, your tour will take you into this pristine region of Alaska on the only road into and out of the park. Along the way, enjoy a fully narrated ride learning about the flora and fauna of the area while looking out for the wild animals that roam freely and call this park home. While in this beautiful area, set aside time to experience the solitude and tranquility that vast wilderness can provide.

During your included Tundra Wilderness Tour, you will travel 53 miles into Denali National Park, enjoying the incredible scenery and some of the best opportunities to see wildlife in its natural setting. Norwegian has been working closely with the CDC (Center for Disease Control and Prevention) and are adding stringent protocols, strategic application and supporting innovation to meet and exceed their standards once those have been finalized by them. The below are the safety measures Norwegian will immediately be implementing fleetwide, with more in development.

ALL-NEW AIR FILTRATION

Installation of medical-grade air-filters, H13 HEPA, that remove 99.95% of airborne pathogens across Norwegian's entire fleet to ensure the air you breathe is clean.

ENHANCED SCREENING PROTOCOLS

All guests will undergo an enhanced pre-embarkation health screening, and those considered at risk will undergo additional screening. Additionally, all crew will undergo extensive screening prior to embarkation and constant monitoring throughout the voyage. Touchless temperature checks and continuous monitoring of guests and crew throughout the voyage will help identify potential health issues, offering an additional layer of prevention and protection.

INCREASED SANITATION MEASURES

All ships are thoroughly cleaned and disinfected prior to every voyage in accordance with company protocols, which are developed in partnership with CDC's Vessel Sanitation Program. Embarkation terminals will be sanitized continuously, and, where possible, fogged before and after each embarkation and debarkation. Further, all staterooms, suites and public areas will be cleaned, sanitized and disinfected at an increased frequency, and including the use of Electrostatic Spray Technology.

RESPONSIBLE SOCIAL DISTANCING

To provide even more space for responsible social distancing, guest capacity on board will be reduced. Staggered embarkation and online check-in will be implemented for proper social distancing. In addition, Norwegian is committed to reducing capacity in all public areas throughout the voyage.

ENHANCED MEDICAL RESOURCES

Onboard medical centers will be fully equipped with the latest testing kits and medical supplies. Norwegian is also increasing the medical team fleetwide. Additionally, each ship has dedicated isolation accommodations should the need arise.

EXTENDED SHIP TO SHORE SAFETY

  • Norwegian is partnering with local destinations and tour operators to ensure their industry-leading health and sanitation protocols extend to the shoreside experience.

This was an annual family vacation with my spouse , 3 adult children and granddaughter 7 years old. Thoroughly enjoyed cruise. The itinerary was excellent with interesting ports of call. The Norweign Jewel is an older ship but is well maintained and clean. Excellent dining options with a wide variety of menus. Ship entertainment was wonderful.
