Sassnitz is a town in Germany located in the Jasmund Peninsula in Rugen Island. It is home to Rugen's only zoo, and it is very famous for its chalk rocks which inspired artists such as Caspar David Friedrich. It is considered a seaside resort. Sassnitz has Europe's largest outer mole. The town also hosts many festivals and carnivals every year.
