Ystad is a town in Sweden, located in the municipality of Ystad. It is dated back to 11th century. Today it is a ferryport, a tourist attraction, and a local administrative. Some fictional stories written by Henning Mankell are set in YStad, such as the detective Wallander stories. The town's name used to be Ystath, whose meaning is not fullyknown, but it is thought that the "y" means yew tree, and the -stad means town or place.
