Overview

Khasab is the capital of Musandam in the Sultanate of Oman. Musandam is dominated by beautiful nature with many fjords and small islands. It is located on the Strait of Hurmuz about 50 miles away from the United Arab Emirates. It is known for smuggling goats in small boats, to and from Iran. They are destined for the Emirates and Saudi. An assortment of goods taken back to Iran for sale. Cigarettes are the main export though white goods form a significant part. Khasab is currently budding as a tourists destination, the diving in the area being well known for its challenges. Mountain safaris are popular as are the Dhow cruises of the nearby Fjords. A new harbor and docks are currently under construction.

Take a scuba diving trip for your enjoyment. Khasab boasts a cultivated and varied coastline. There is an abundance of scenery, wildlife and delight awaiting the underwater explorer. The Dive Centre at Oman offers a complete range of diving courses. Diving equipment is available on dive excursions, which include overnight diving and camping trips.

For the rock climber enthusiasts, Oman is paradise. Majestic mountains, rising to at points, stretch for over 130 miles. Among the peaks is a maze of spurs and creeks, deep canyons and soaring cliffs. Getting to the mountains is easy enough; getting up them is another matter.
