Overview

Korcula Island is one of the greenest islands in the Adriatic sea. It is also one of the most popular travel destinations in this part of Croatia. The vicinity of Dubrovnik as well as Mljet gives visitors to Korcula unique opportunity to spend time at this unspoiled Island as well as to visit effortlessly Mljet, national park, Dubrovnik, or Mostar and Neretva River. The ancient heart of the city is located on a peninsula. The reason for this spot was so that from the city towers the residents could more effectively monitor the routing of galleys and sailing boats from the eastern coast of the Adriatic. The walls and narrow streets prove alluring to todays' visitor just as it impressed all travel writers. One of the most renowned travel writers, Marco Polo, began his lifes' journey in this town.

Of coarse an Island this historic and beautiful should offer for a lot of site seeing and it does. You can go to the heart of the city on the peninsula, go to any of the historically preserved museums, or just take a stroll through the market place.

Korcula also offer a full day of wine tasting. Take a trip and drive to many of the green vineyards and olive groves located on the island.
