Nanortalik is a town in Greenland on a small island with the same name. It has a population of 1,560 people. Because of its location, this area was one of the first parts of Greenland settled, both by Inuit and by the Norse. Nanortalik was founded in 1770. Nanortalik has little productive trade. There are no factories, and no large-scale fishing activities as sea ice prevents fishing for several months a year. Small-scale fishing, seal and seabird hunting and tourism provide most of the locally produced profits.
Nanortalik being a small town there isn't a whole
lot to do but go to the Nanortalik Kommune, which is just a place to site see
but is a very spacious are with beautiful mountains and natural forests.
Or you can just do a little ice fishing. Take a guide so you can go to the best
spots that have been used for many years.
