Nosy Be is an island just off the northwest coast of Madagascar, Africa. Nosy Be means "big island". The island was called Assada during the early colonial era of the seventeenth century. Nosy Be is Madagascar's largest and busiest tourist resort. Occupying a tactical position off the southeast coast of Africa, the island historically became the target of British and French ambitions. Eventually, the competition resulted in French colonization at the end of the nineteenth century. The country gained full independence from colonial rule on June 26, 1960.

The main attractions of the park are the two lakes (Lake Vert, Lake Rouge). They also have 11 species of lemurs, big chameleons and the blue boa. In this park you can see the lemur Indri, the largest lemur of Madagascar there are 62 different groups of lemurs.
