Trapani, with a population of a little over 68,000, is a city in the west coast of Sicily in Italy. It is the Capital of the Province of Trapani. The city was built to serve as a port of the neighboring city of Erice. The city was heavily destroyed in World War II, however it has been restored to function fully.
Visit beautiful churches and cathedrals here in
the city. The structures are very stunning to look at because of the
architectural design. Some of the churches to visit are Saint Agostino, the
Church of Santa Maria di Gesu, and the Basilica Sanctuary of Maria Santissima
Annunziata.
The other main attractions in the
area are the Egadi Islands, which are linked to Sicily by
ferries going to and from Trapani. The old Greek city of Segesta
is one of the best preserved Doric temples in the world. This is
a must see if you want to get some historic information on the
area.
