Wrangell is a city located in Wrangell-Petersburg, Alaska. The population of the city is roughly 2,500. In 1868, a U. S. military post called Fort Wrangell was built at the site. The community around the post continued to grow through commerce with gold prospectors in the gold rushes of 1861, 1874-1877 and 1897.

Things to Do

The Stikine River is a river, approximately 335 miles long, in northwestern British Columbia, Canada and southeastern Alaska. It is considered one of the last truly wild rivers in North America, it drains a rugged pristine area east of the Coast Mountains, cutting a fast flowing course through the mountains in deep glacier-linedgorges to empty into an inlet in the Alexander Archipelago.

Visit Stikine Flats where you can see hundreds of migrating birds and marine mammals.
