Overview

Ajaccio is located on the west coast of the island of Corsica, 210 nautical miles southeast of Marseille. It occupies a sheltered position at the foot of wooded hills on the northern shore of the Gulf of Ajaccio. The harbour lies to the east of the town and is protected on the south by a peninsula. Its beautiful landscape will amaze you.  Ajaccio's markets are rich with colors of the countryside and its old streets are plentiful with memory of Napoleon.

Things to Do

While in Ajaccio visit the famous Fesh Museum.  The museum is the most important in France after the Louvre in regards to Italian painting. Discover Fesch's collection spanning six centuries of painting and one floor devoted to the Cardinal Fesch and the Bonaparte family.  Plan a day just for Fesch, this fascinating museum features art from: Early Italian, Central and Northern Italy, Roman baroque, Neapolitan baroque, eighteenth century, nineteenth century, Northern works and the Napoleonic Collection. 

Water sports are some of the most popular activities in Ajaccio.  People travel from all over the world to take advantage of Ajaccio's scuba diving.  The water is crystal clear which gives you great underwater vision to explore all marine life.  Do to the temperate climate you can swim well into the autumn months.  Jet skiing, sailing, kayaking are also loved by the locals and tourists alike.
