Volos is a city located at the center of the Greek mainland. It is the capital of Magnesia prefecture. Built at the innermost point of the Pagasetic Gulf and at the foot of Mount Pilio, it is the only outlet towards the sea from Thessaly, the country's largest agricultural region. Volos is one of the major commercial ports of Greece, but also gains much traffic because it is connected by ferries as well as by hydrofoils.
A great place to visit is the National Marine
Park of Alonissos. Here you will find beautiful rare species such as the
Mediterranean Seal. This is a protect area since most of the inhabitants are
rare. Diving is available, however there are strict rules that apply.
The Pelion Peninsula is a great stop for those of you who want to take some
amazing pictures of the sea and coastline.
