Overview

Port of Spain, has an estimated population 49,000 residents. Port of Spain is the capital of Trinidad and Tobago and the country's third largest municipality by population, after Chaguanas and San Fernando. It is one of the major shipping hubs of the Caribbean, with exports of agricultural products and asphalt. From 1958 to 1962, Port of Spain was the capital of the short-lived West Indies Federation, though there were plans to build a new federal capital at Chaguaramas, on land occupied by the US military base established during World War 2. Federation Park is a residential neighborhood in western Port of Spain intended to house employees of the federal government, is a memorial to that time period. The tallest building in Port of Spain is the Nicholas Tower, which happens to be the tallest building in Trinidad and Tobago.

Things to Do

There is a lot to see and do in Port of Spain, you can visit the Botanic Gardens, Queen's Park Savannah, the Magnificent Seven, the National Museum and Art Gallery, the Holy Trinity Cathedral, and the Presidents House (the president of Trinidad). So as you can see it is a lot to choose from.
