Overview

Darwin is the territorial capital and a key city of the Northern Territory, Australia. It has a population of about 110,000 people on Australia's far northern coastline. It is the only Australian capital city to have come under substantial attack during any war. In 1942, Japanese planes made two major air raids on Darwin, the first of 63 air attacks experienced by the city during World War II. Darwin is an important port, particularly for the live export of sheep and cattle, and of minerals. It is also the site of the Australian Army base and a naval facility supporting patrol boat activity off Australia's northern coastline.

Things to Do

A great place to stop is the Darwin Crocodile Farm which holds over 10,000 crocodiles. See how they breed and feed these native animals. A great place to visit with the whole family.

Enjoy the beautiful Mindil Beach while you are here. Take advantage of awesome water sports such as jet skiing, scuba diving, snorkeling, or just swimming. Crystal clear waters and the perfect temperature makes this beach a must stop.
