One of the world’s natural wonders, Halong Bay features more than a thousand tremendous limestone islands of various sizes and shapes along the coastline of Bai Chay Beach. Its waters are host to a vast diversity of ecosystems including offshore coral reefs, freshwater swamp forests, and sandy beaches. The folk tale has it that the dragons came down from heaven to help locals by spewing out jewels and jade to the sea, forming a natural fortress; these precious stones are represented by the lush green outcrops. Several islands lay claim to attractive caverns and caves with contiguous chambers, hidden ponds and stone formations. The bay is northeast of Hanoi and accessed by road.
Halong Bay is considered one of the most beautiful natural wonders in the world so while you visit you should try to enjoy as much of it as you can. You should see Cat Ba Island, Dau Go Cave, and Sung Sot Cave. These places should be at the top of your list.
