Overview

Chuuk is an island group that comprises one of the four states of the Federated States of Micronesia, along with Kosrae, Pohnpei, and Yap. It lies in the Western Pacific Ocean approximately 620 miles southeast of Guam. Chuuk means "mountain" in the Chuukese language. The main population center of Chuuk State is the Chuuk Lagoon, a large archipelago with mountainous islands surrounded by a string of islets on a barrier reef.

Things to Do

For all you divers out there, Fujikawa Maru is a must stop. Dive into this famous wreck in the lagoon. The cargo ship is about 450 feet long and under 100 feet of water. Under here you will find tropical fish which they used the ship to house themselves. You will even find Japanese Zero planes while you are down there. Sit in the cockpit if you wish. This is the perfect spot for diving.

Swimming and snorkeling is another great activity that you can find here. The warm waters and perfect weather makes your day at the beach more relaxing and worthwhile.
