Cherbourg, with a population of around 43,000 residents, is a town and commune in Normandy, north west France. It was formed when the city of Cherbourg gained Octeville on February 28, 2000, and was officially renamed Cherbourg-Octeville. Cherbourg holds an arsenal of the French Navy. It is also a seaport on the English Channel, with the majority of its cross channel ferry services being operated by Brittany Ferries to Poole and Portsmouth.
La Cite de la Mer is an aquarium which houses a decommissioned nuclear submarine which you can tour. This building was built on the old railway station and is a very key attraction to tourist. A great experience for the entire family.
The city holds lots of small villages that are worth visiting. Bring plenty of film to take some shots of these unique houses with beautiful architecture.
