Overview

Santa Barbara is a city in Southern California. It is the county seat of Santa Barbara County, California. The city has a population of about 93,000. The metropolitan area, which includes the cities of Goleta, Carpinteria, Montecito, Summerland, Isla Vista, Hope Ranch, and other areas, has a population of approximately 202,000. Much of the architecture in the city is Spanish in style, in keeping with the Spanish heritage of the city.

Things to Do

The Santa Barbara Museum of Art is an art museum located in downtown Santa Barbara. The museum was founded in 1941 and currently ranks amongst the top 10 regional art museums in the United States. It is home to special collections which includes Asian, American, and European art that spans at least 4,000 years from ancient times.

The Santa Barbara Botanic Garden is another great place to stop while you are in town.
