Cannakale is a town and seaport in Turkey, in the Cannakale Province, on the southern coast of the Dardanelles. Cannakale is the second province in terms of importance, in Turkey that has lands on two different continents. There are ferries to cross to the northern side of the strait. Cannakale is the nearest major town to the site of ancient Troy. The wooden horse from the recent movie Troy is exhibited on the seafront. Cannakale was originally an Ottoman fortress and it later became known for its pottery, the origin of its current name. Cannakale is sometimes also called "Chanak".
