  Providing more al fresco dining experiences than on any ship at sea. Located outside the World Café at the stern of the ship, the inviting terrace is transformed by night into a magical space where your destination is your dining room. By day, it’s a great place to dine and relax in the lounge area around the Infinity Pool.

  Located in the Explorers’ Lounge and named for “Mamsen,” the Hagen family matriarch, this venue offers Norwegian specialties for breakfast, lunch, an afternoon snack or evening treat.

  Inspired by the trade routes of Vikings, the Explorers’ Lounge is the ideal place for guests to share their discoveries over an aquavit or a craft beer while sampling fine Scandinavian fare. Central to the Explorers’ Lounge is Mamsen’s, a casual gourmet deli inspired by Norwegian cuisine, from smoked salmon to open-faced sandwiches and locally sourced charcuterie and cheeses. The daily “Waffle Hour” provides mouth-watering samples of the beloved treat.

• The Viking Living Room

  

  The ideal setting for relaxation and conversation, The Viking Living Room draws guests together. Spacious seating, melodic piano tunes, live entertainment and planned activities foster rich camaraderie.

• The Wintergarden

  

  When you yearn for serenity, there is no better place on ship than a visit to the Wintergarden. This charming, airy space around the main pool is perfect for relaxing in clean, uncluttered Scandinavian-designed environment. Even here, Viking's focus is on enrichment, as this is the place to witness a tea ceremony, or indulge in an afternoon tea service, complete with hand-selected teas, finger sandwiches and pastries.

  The main theater features live performances that bring you closer to the culture of featured destinations. Viking also pulls back the curtains of the destinations with cinema in the two movie theaters, which show first-run films as well as destination-driven classics. The theaters are always buzzing with fresh insights from their enrichment talks featuring the history, art, culture and upcoming ports. To keep you in comfort, Viking has banished uncomfortable theater seating in favor of soft and spacious sofa seating.

Health and Safety Protocols

Vaccine Requirement
Viking requires that all guests be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 at least 14 days prior to travel. For added protection, we strongly recommend that guests who are eligible for a booster receive one before departing. All crew are required to be up-to-date with their immunization. This policy is aligned with current guidelines from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). You may be required to show proof of vaccination for embarkation on a Viking ship. Please note, some countries along your journey may require a booster dose. On select itineraries where required by local authorities, you will submit verification of COVID-19 vaccination status through VeriFLY, an independent third-party mobile app.

Purified Air
Enjoy fresh air in your stateroom, knowing that all staterooms on Viking ocean ships feature independent air handling units that do not share air with other areas of the ship. Take comfort in knowing that the air in the public areas of your ship has also been purified with new short-wavelength ultraviolet (UV-C) lights and high-density filters, which kill 99.99% of all airborne viruses and bacteria.

Medical Services
While every precaution can reduce the risk of illness, we are also prepared for that outcome. Each of our ocean and expedition vessels has always had a state-of-the-art Medical Center; those facilities have now been upgraded with more specialized equipment. We have also launched a new 24/7 hotline staffed by doctors.

Sanitization
Rest assured that the surfaces on your ship will be cleaned and sanitized continuously with daily scheduled deep cleanings. You will notice more hand sanitization stations throughout your ship. And on our ocean ships, we are using new sanitization robots that utilize UV-C light to treat surfaces in guest and crew public areas—an industry first.

Dining & Entertainment
On your ship, you can expect spacious, airy public areas and abundant options for al fresco dining. Also, on our ocean voyages, as always, you can enjoy complimentary 24-hour room service. Now, more options for spaced seating in all dining venues will allow for physical distancing; there will be additional table service at all bars and lounges; and new capabilities will allow you to watch more live events and enriching content through your in-room entertainment system.

Physical Distancing & Face Masks
Public health experts agree that proper physical distancing and the use of face masks are effective in helping slow the spread of COVID-19 and other illnesses. Face masks are optional while moving about the ship. Please note: Viking’s Medical Team continually monitors conditions and may deem face masks to be necessary while moving about the ship, based on conditions at the time of travel. While ashore, guests will need to comply with any local guidelines for face masks and physical distancing. Face masks continue to be required for all crew.
