  The best view of Santiago is from the summit of San Cristobal Hill, the second-highest point in the city. San Cristobal Hill rises over 850 meters above the city providing sweeping views of Santiago and the Andes Mountains. San Cristobal Hill encompasses most of the Santiago Metropolitan Park, the city's largest urban park – it measures more than twice the size of New York's Central Park! In addition to the views, one of the most notable features of the hill is the giant Virgin Mary statue at the peak.

  San Cristobal Hill is a great place to enjoy the views and has a lot of attractions you won't want to miss. Some of the features include an amphitheater, chapel, Chilean National Zoo, and a wine museum. Visitors can reach the summit via two methods: walking up the hill or taking the cable car. Be sure to check the operation times for the cable car; otherwise, you'll have to descend the hill another way.

  Chile's largest desert is unique compared to what you typically think of as desert terrain. The Atacama Salt Flats, or Salar de Atacama, are naturally formed salt plains covering approximately 3,000 square kilometers. It's the third-largest salt flat in the world and a scenic place to visit for tourists. Atacama Salt Flats is located 2,300 meters above sea level. Some of the natural sights include rock formations and lagunes, while some of the common animals to see are flamingos and vicunas.

  Atacama Salt Flats is an excellent photo opportunity. On one side, the Andes mountain range borders the flats; on the other end, volcanos line the flats. On clear days, you can see a perfect reflection of the sky in the salt.

Today, art lines every nook and cranny of the seaport town. Valparaiso is a hilly town made famous because of the art. The graffiti creates a colorful collage of world-class art to decorate everything from restaurants to office buildings to stairs and throughout the communities. Two of the most popular places to see art is Templeman Street and Bellavista, which hosts an open-air museum.

  There are several walking art tours available when you visit Valparaiso to see some of the city's most famous artworks. A tour isn't necessary as there is art everywhere you look.

Located near Santiago, Viña del Mar is the perfect beach getaway to have some fun in the ocean or explore some beachfront venues. Viña del Mar has several great beaches to choose between for finding the perfect one. Reñaca Beach is a top beach lined with cafes and bars. It's one of Chile's best-surfing spots with a clean beach for relaxing and watching the sunset. Cochoa Beach is another favorite that also has a lookout at the observation deck. Visitors can see views of the rocky coastline or spot sea lions and penguins.

  Because of its proximity to Santiago, Viña del Mar is a popular summertime destination for locals looking for a quick beach vacation. The beaches can get crowded during the peak travel season, but there are many beach options to find space to relax. For example, Las Salinas Beach is one-mile long, so it's plenty of room to space out.

  The best time to see the glacier is anytime except the winter. Although the cruises still operate, weather conditions prohibit tourists from hiking to the glacier, so you won't get the full experience.
