  Reclaim Your Youth at Aphrodite’s Rock

  Cyprus is the birthplace of Aphrodite, the Greek goddess of love, passion, and beauty. According to legend, Aphrodite arose naked from the waters here after she was created from the foam of the sea, giving Cyprus its nickname "Island of Love." The Petra Tou Romiou (Aphrodite's Rock) is a steep column rising from the ocean, located about 15 miles from Paphos. The striking beauty of the rock and the myth surrounding it make it popular with tourists. Swimming in the aquamarine waters around the rock is said to help you regain your youth, but we don't guarantee it.

  Hike to Kykkos Monastery

  Located in the Troodos Mountains, Kykkos is the wealthiest and most lavish monastery in Cyprus with immaculately maintained buildings. Dating back to the 11th century and featuring vivid murals, mosaics, and paintings, the monastery has an imposing courtyard, a small museum, and an opulent church. It is the burial place of the island's first president Archbishop Makarios III who served here as a monk.

  The monastery is open on all days except public holidays and religious fairs are held on August 15 and September 8 each year. Keep in mind that there's a strict dress code with no shorts allowed, and both men and women are required to cover their shoulders. While the Kykkos Tourist Pavilion on site has a buffet-style restaurant, the food can be overpriced and stale, so you might be better off carrying a picnic lunch and some wine to refuel before descending.

  Go Bird Watching at Larnaca Salt Lake

  One of four networked salt lakes in Cyprus, the Larnaca Salt Lake is home to several migratory bird species. Come winter, the lake becomes an explosion of pink as thousands of long-legged flamingos flock to its waters. The lake's waters typically dry up in the summer, leaving behind a shining salt crust. The salt, incidentally, used to be harvested, loaded up on donkeys, and exported from Cyprus until the 1980s.

The popular water park, spread over an expansive 100,000 square meters, features dozens of rides for all ages, including a wave pool, lazy river, and tube slides. There are plenty of food and beverage outlets. And the Polynesian-themed park has over 2,000 sunbeds if you're looking to relax and catch some sun.

  Park opening times vary by season so check before you go, there are 750 free parking spaces at Fasouri Watermania. There is also a shuttle bus available from the main tourist areas in Limassol and Paphos with pre-booked park tickets. Inside the park, visitors must use a prepaid Watermania cash card for all purchases.

  Ride Around the Island in a Classic Car

  Classic car lovers, rejoice! Cyprus is home to the Historic and Classic Motor Museum which houses treasures like a Ford Model T Roadster from 1912. The classic beauties belong to veteran Cypriot rally champion Dimi Mavropoulos. There's a collection donated by the US government to President Makarios III, the island's first president. There's also a green mini from the Mr. Bean movies and a 1973 Rover P5 used by Margaret Thatcher. But best of all, you can hire a classic car (complete with a professional driver) and toot your way around the island in style.
