Egypt Tours Travel Tips

  • Religious festivals play a significant role in Egyptian culture. Islamic celebrations like Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha and Christian festivals like Coptic Christmas are celebrated with enthusiasm. Tours during these times offer a glimpse into Egypt's religious diversity and traditions.
  • In a country like Egypt, where language barriers and different customs can be challenging for some travelers, having a tour guide to navigate these aspects is a significant advantage.
  • Make sure to exchange some of your currency for Egyptian Pounds. While many places will accept your credit card, it's safest always to make sure to have some local currency just in case while traveling.
  • Keep in mind that taking pictures at some places like the pyramids may require a small donation.
  • One must-try dish is 'Koshari,' a popular street food made with rice, pasta, lentils, chickpeas, fried onions, and a spiced tomato sauce. Tours in Cairo often include stops at local eateries to sample this vegetarian delight. 'Ful medames,' a fava bean stew typically eaten for breakfast, is another staple, enjoyed with freshly baked bread.
  • For meat lovers, 'Kebab and kofta' (grilled meat skewers and meatballs) are a culinary highlight. Tours to traditional restaurants often feature these grilled meats with an array of dips and salads. In coastal areas like Alexandria, seafood is a must-try, with freshly caught fish and seafood prepared in Mediterranean style.
  • An escorted tour in Egypt offers a comprehensive and enriching travel experience, combining historical exploration, cultural immersion, and the convenience of expertly managed travel logistics. It's an ideal way to experience the wonders of Egypt with ease and depth.

Reviews for Egypt Tours and Vacations

Wonders of Egypt was an absolute amazing experience. Everything from the beginning to end was like clockwork. I felt safe and taken care of at all times.

Tauck did a terrific job. Everything was taken care of for me.

Patricia H

Trafalgar took care of everything so we did not have to worry about any aspect of our travel, connections, or destination. We were not prepared for all the additional tipping we were asked to do (bus drivers, van drivers, boat). Also, based on the readings we did for travel to Egypt, US dollars could have been used virtually everywhere. Information indicated wheeled suitcases with handles will not fit in the cabin of the plane. There was no question we could have taken wheeled luggage on the plane. Appropriate dress for women: the only time there was an issue was on a single day when we attended a specific mosque. Dress for women did not have to be as strict as readings indicated. Vendors on the Nile Cruise Ship: T-shirts were being sold for $55 USD and other souvenirs were being sold at triple pricing or more than the hotel gift shop. Scheduling inexpensive souvenir shopping would be appreciated.
