Mexico Tours Travel Tips

  • Always try to pay in pesos because you'll get a better deal than you would if you were to pay in United States dollars.
  • When you visit Mexico, your border control officer will put a slip of paper inside your passport. This isn't something you want to lose, because you will have to show it to border control again when you leave. It's crucial to keep this slip safe.
  • Try to see at least one cenote. They are beautiful caves and underground swimming pools that are truly breathtaking. Each one is incredibly different, so try to see a few of them if you can.
  • Always double-check the signs, if you see a bathroom marked with an M, it's for women. That's because the word mujeres means women in Spanish.
  • One of the highlights of touring Mexico is its beautiful beaches. Places like Cancun, Tulum, and Playa del Carmen boast some of the most breathtaking coastlines, perfect for sunbathing, swimming, and water sports.
  • For those who love hiking and nature, Mexico's national parks, like the Monarch Butterfly Biosphere Reserve and Copper Canyon, offer incredible trails and views.
  • Many Mexico tours include visits to local markets and eateries, giving you a chance to dive into the heart of Mexican cooking. Don't miss the chance to sip on some authentic tequila or mezcal, and for dessert, churros or flan are delightful choices.
  • Mexico guided tours also offer a good mix of group activities and personal time. You'll have the opportunity to explore famous sites with your group, but there's usually free time allotted for you to venture out on your own or relax.
  • Tacos, enchiladas, and quesadillas are just the start. On your tours to Mexico, make sure to try regional specialties like mole, a rich sauce often served with chicken, and ceviche, a fresh seafood dish. Mexico's street food is also a must-try, offering delicious and affordable options like tamales and elote (grilled corn).
  • Many Mexico tours include visits to local markets and eateries, giving you a chance to dive into the heart of Mexican cooking. Don't miss the chance to sip on some authentic tequila or mezcal, and for dessert, churros or flan are delightful choices.
  • In the north, you'll find vast deserts and impressive canyons, perfect for adventure seekers. With its rich volcanic soil, Central Mexico is home to sprawling cities and charming colonial towns. Southern Mexico is a paradise of rainforests and Mayan ruins, a must-see for history enthusiasts.

Reviews for Mexico Tours and Vacations

This trip on Affordable Tours site was listed as First Class. TOTALLY WRONG! It was more like a backpackers trip with less than 3rd rate hotels, hauling own luggage for distances, couldn’t hear tour leader, no microphone in bus so couldn’t hear after 2nd row of seats. Not my idea of a First Class trip!

Naomi V

This was an excellent tour! Everything went to plan, and our guide was excellent. I salute him for managing a group of 40 people on his own! That being said, I think having a second guide for a group of this size would be prudent. One of the group members suffered an injury and had to go to get stitches. With our guide tending to that, the rest of the group just kind of wandered around. Luckily, no one got lost or had any problems, but I can see how this could go very wrong. One hotel, La Aldea in San Miguel Allende, was a bit below the standard of the other hotels. Its location was excellent but the bathrooms were a bit outdated.

Holly E

Accommodation at Mexico City was great. It was average or below for rest of the places. I think people are willing to pay more with better accommodation.
