One if the best tours I have taken.
Absolutely fantastic in every way!
The tour set up by Affordable Tours foy my wife and I was great. Everything on the trip was exceptional. I hope to use Affordable Tours and CIE again in the future.
Our trip to Ireland was everything we had hoped it would be and more. Our driver/ tour guide was knowledgeable and entertaining ensuring that we left Ireland fully emersed in the culture and beauty of both Scotland and Ireland.
Great trip..wonderful guide
Our tour with CIE through Affordable Tours was a great experience. Everything was exactly as described and well organized. The driver was excellent and was also a great guide. The other guides were also good. The tour was well thought out to allow time for all the listed events, as well as some time for you to shop and relax. I would highly recommend this tour.
The trip was by CIE and the hotel in Derry. The City Hotel was far below par and I indicated this on the CIE evaluation
We had a great trip! The best part of booking with C.I.E. Tours International was there were no optional extras.
CIE did a wonderful tour for us. We were very happy with the guide, driver, and the tour itself. Everything was as described with no attempt to up-sell us on things we didn't want.
Only one place I would never stay at again was the Clayton in Dublin. We went to dinner there on our last night. The service was terrible. It took over 2 hours to dine. Other people were in and out while we were waiting. Then, we ended up with the wrong items, so they offered desserts. It took 35 minutes and still wasn't served so we left.
We were surprised that we were joining a tour already in progress. When we arrived at the airport in Edinburgh, there was a CIE representative waiting with an iPad with our name displayed on the screen. We said our hellos and found out we were not on her tour. She apologized and offered to contact the transportation company CIE uses. After a quick call, she told us they were not available. She advised us to get a taxi and proceed to the hotel that was part of our tour. We arrived at our hotel at 9:00 AM and our room, as expected, was not ready. The hotel manager gave us the first room available at 11:00 AM and we got some much needed rest after an overnight plane trip. The hotel was okay but nothing special. There were not any restaurants nearby so our food choices were severely limited. Our tour director welcomed us when he arrived and was very personable. He told us about the history of the areas we were visiting as we traveled from Scotland to England. A few more stories or additional history would have been a welcomed bonus. The participants on the trip started to ask more questions and the trip became more interesting. I love the way CIE rotates the travelers on the bus. I love that we got to see so much in so little time. However, time at each day trip was very limited. We felt extremely rushed and felt pressured to return to the bus for the next leg of the trip. When you factor in time for lunch or a snack, there was not much time for exploring at each area. The time crunch put a lot of pressure on us. The food at the hotels was quite dreadful. Breakfasts were the same day after day. The evening meals were sub par even at the Marriott, a hotel chain known for their excellent food services. The same applies to the pubs we visited. I can honestly say that we did not have a good meal on this tour with the exception of the Scottish evening in Edinburgh. The quality of food at the pubs was particularly disappointing. Once we were on our own, we found some wonderful and inexpensive places to eat. I don't know who at CIE picks the places at which their clients eat, but if TripAdvisor or Yelp could be employed, I think your clients would be much happier. It's not only armies that travel on their stomachs.
Our CIE tour guide was incredible. His knowledge, personality and organization was first class and I would book a CIE tour with him any time! His shared information prepared us for the places we visited, and tied all of the history of Scotland into an easily understandable timeline. Our CIE bus driver was wonderful. He was very professional, friendly, courteous and I was always comfortable with his skill and safety driving. Our CIE "Scottish Dream" was first class! CIE does a wonderful job with beautiful lodgings, trips and extremely professional, knowledgable and delightful guides. Tickets to all attractions are included, so we didn't have to wait in lines for tickets, like other tour groups we saw. My only negative is that the trip was advertised as an 8 day tour but was actually 6.5 days, as we started the tour Friday afternoon and the following Friday was our return trip home in the wee hours of the morning. The Thursday travel day was included in the listing as one of the tour days, but it was just our time of daytime/ red-eye traveling to get to Scotland. I loved Scotland and am eager to return again soon!
The trip was fabulous, and we saw LOTS of the beautiful country. However, the daily schedule was a little hectic. I would encourage you to schedule in a little more down time.
The tour exceeded expectations. The driver/guide was exceptional. I would definitely travel again with him. The only hesitation is that the tour is listed as 8 days/7 nights. It started at 2 PM on Wednesday and ended at 10 AM the following Wednesday. That is 7 days.
I will say that the Irish Adventure Tour was one of the best travel experiences we have had. The value of this tour based on the food, hotels, transportation and guided tours cannot be beat.
